breaking news -- norfolk treasurer anthony burfoot has been indicted on federal charges. newschannel three s margaret kavanagh is live with what we know right now. according to a federal indictment -- norfolk city treasure anthony burfoot and his conspirators to use his official positions as a norfolk councilman, vice mayor, and treasurer to enrich himself getting payments, gifts, and other things of value. he has been serving since 2002 in those various positions. according to the documents they tried to hide the

it states that he became a partner in the company—t ivest. he promised the company that he would use his position with the city to get the company involved in city projects. in exchange he got money, meals, and trips. about several projects and proposed projects in the city - including the midtown office tower project- where burfoot used his position to try and help his partners. some of this stuff in the documents date back several years. he is looking at the following charges: conspiracy to defraud the citizens of norfolk, conspiracy to official right, use of interstate wire communications to further scheme to defraud and perjury. burfoot is scheduled to be in courthouse at 2:30 this afternoon. i will have updates on this breaking story on wtkr- four. live in the control room,

rt 17 in isle of wight is back open after a tractor trailer overturned blocking all lanes for hours. the crash happened just before 7:30 when a man in a pickup truck swerved to avoid traffic in his lane. he ran the tractor trailer off the road. a total of six vehicles were involved but only the driver of the big rig was taken to the hospital. the driver of the pickup truck, eric blair, was charged with reckless driving. taking a live look outside at the virginia beach oceanfront. looks pretty gloomynow -- and rain is on the way. let s send things over now to meteorologist dominic brown

warmer temps and a chance of rain for the weekend....warme r weather is on the way, but it will take another day for it to get here. for today, we re expecting highs in the mid 50s under mostly cloudy skies. a few scattered showers are possible this afternoon and evening. this weekend, rain chances will be going up even more, especially late saturday through sunday as a weather system from the southwest moves in our direction. otherwise, expect a good deal of clouds here and there. high temperatures will be in the low and mid 60s this weekend. by next week, our warm up will end. highs will be in the mid and upper 40s by the middle of the work week.

new at noon-- virginia beach police arrested a man after he tried robbing a gas station and stabbed an employee. it happened yesterday at the citgo gas station on diamond springs road. police say 53- year-old carlton isaac dunston entered the store-- armed with a knife and demanded cash. during the robbery-- dunston cut the employee on the arm. she was taken to the hospital-- but is expected to be okay. dunston was arrested on assault. new details-- chesapeake police arrested a man in connection with the shooting that took place at the extended stay america hotel. bryant got into a fight with another man then shot him. it

two new jersey state troopers did something that wasn t exactly a part of their daily duties. definitely not-- they helped a woman deliver her baby on the side of a parkway.

the expecting mother was being driven to a hospital by her husband when she realized they were not going to make it. the couple stopped on the shoulder and called 9-1-1. when the two troopers got there they found the mom to be already in labor in the back seat of the car. about 10 minutes later-- the baby was safely delivered. economy airline passengers may soon have a better screen for their in- flight entertainment. panasonic is building an ultra-thin, 13- inch, high- definition touchscreen display. and they won )t show only videos provided by the airline. they )ll also connect with your smartphone and charge it. the size of the screen will take up much of the seat-back it is mounted in. the new seat-back screens have already been deployed in the economy class sections of emirates airlines.
