new this morning: at least 21 people were killed in a terrorist attack on a university of northwest pakistan. explosions and gunfire were heard near the university earlier this morning. security forces say they have killed four attackers -- but officials say they do not know if they were any

the pakistani taliban has claimed responsibility for the attack. later today: norfolk city treasurer anthony burfoot is headed to court. he is set to be arraigned today -- indicted earlier this month on federal corruption charges. burfoot was indicted on those charges accused of using his various positions with the city over the last several years -- to get payments, gifts, and other items of value. in surry county fire crews battled the frigid temperatures as they worked to put out a fire at a warehouse . the fire happened at edwards smokehouse at about 12-30 yesterday afternoon. you could see the smoke for miles. it took firefighters hours to get it under control. they even had to bring in water from a nearby creek to fight the flames. the company tweeted they will be closed until further notice. in portsmouth: a woman died in a two car crash on ansell avenue. the crash happened around 7-30 last night.

happened. the woman s name has not been released. we )ve learned a gust of wind is to blame for a plane crash at the accomack county airport . state police tell newschannel three the pilot was trying to land when he ran off the runway yesterday. state police sent us these pictures from the crash scene. the wind blew the small craft off the runway - and across a grassy area before hitting a storage shed. officials say the pilot and his passenger manged to walk away from the wreck. we )re learning new details on a newport news double involved shooting. police have arrested and charged 33- year-old laratio dantzler has been arrested - he hospital monday. officials say he quinton kelly. in chesapeake police have arrested 14- women -in a search of several massage parlors and spas. the shops we visited - all closed yesterday.

of the women are charged with doing "- quote prohibited acts at a massage parlor -- and some were charged with putting peep holes in doors. a few days ago police tell newschannel 3 they were investigating whether the massage parlors have the right permits, whether people were living at the parlors, and if people were giving inappropriate massages. newschannel 3 spoke to a woman who works nearby. late at night when i would get ready to go in a new agent and i would be here late night, i would come out and see young men walking in and it seemed odd. young men typically don t have a lot of money to spend on massages on luxury items. these arrests come months after chesapeake )s city council put more restrictions on parlors -- including strengthening the punishment for inappropriate massages. republican presidential candidate ben carson is temporarily suspending his campaign. this comes after a car

later today norfolk city treasurer anthony burfoot will be back in federal court to face a judge on his political corruption charges. newschannel threes stefania okolie is live in the control room with the details city leaders were taken by surprise when they learned of these charges against anthony burfoot -- who holds an elected position in office. but burfoot is confident that he s innocent -- his attorney telling us these allegations were driven by jealousy. the indictment against norfolk city treasurer and former vice mayor anthony burfoot is dozens of pages. -30 to be exact. hes accused of using his elected positions to help benefit a company called tivest development and construction l-

the indictment says --in exchange - he was given hundreds of thousands of dollar, car payments, and home appliances. two weeks ago he made his first appearance in federal court --in handcuffs. after facing a judge - he was released on a personal recognizance bond. and on the way out his attorney telling us burfoot did nothing wrong -- pointing to malice as the reason these allegations came about. vice mayor angela williams graves had something to say about that - and we know mayor hopeful bob mccabe spoke out about these allegations calling for burfoot to step down-- but he said he doesnt plan to. in todays arraignment we could find out whether or not

the norfolk police department honored a k-9 officer who died in the line of duty. hundreds showed up to pay their final respects for krijger yesterday at the norfolk k-9 range. afterward - there was a procession to the garden of the pines pet cemetery - where they laid him to rest. the police chief pointed out - krijger was more than :just a dog." 31 krijger is a hero. we )re going to do everything to honor him to honor him and his handler.40 49 k9 )s like a brotherhood .. so regardless oif what state you re in..we )re a family.56 krijger served three years with the norfolk police department. he was killed earlier this month during a police standoff. michigan governor rick synder is vowing to fix the water crisis in flint.

for his arrest and resignation. in his state of address yesterday the republican governor said he has asked lawmakers for nearly 30-million dollars to replace plumbing in schools and pay for psychologists to monitor affect children. governor flint says he will also release all of his emails to the public today. in hawaii - the coast guard has suspended the search for those marines missing when two helicopters crashed. they say they ve spotted four life rafts, but no one was on board. coast guard officials report there is no indication anyone was on board the three rafts recovered, either. the two aircraft crashed off oahu s north shore late thursday, with 12 marines on board. so far, there has been no indication anyone survived. this morning -- actor jamie foxx is being called a hero for saving a man from a burning car. foxx said he heard the crash

the highway patrol says 32- year old brett kyle was speeding an driving under the influence when he swerved off the road hitting a drainage ditch -- causing his car to flip several times. foxx says he unbuckled the driver and dragged him from the overturned vehicle just before the car bust into flames. outcue: "..
