the 2017 budget. county executive chris abele wanted to charge 60 bucks per car. the county board finance committee is recommending a 30 dollar per vehicle fee. the full county board takes up the budget next week. if you're looking for the city of milwaukee christmas tree this year... you'll have to check a block or two to the south. city crews plucked a giant blue spruce from the washington heights neighborhood this morning. this year... it was posted outside city hall... instead of at red arrow park. the tree lighting ceremony takes place on november 17th. yesterday' s highs were near 70, typical for june 1st, not november 1st, plus it was sunny with a light breezeerfection. clouds increased overnight with the next storm system that brought scattered t'showers early this morning with lows in the 50s. clouds and scattered showers are likely the rest of the day

decision today. the federal reserve were expected to raise rates this past summer, but that changed after the u-s added more jobs in may. fuel economy is at a record high as new technology helps vehicles lose weight and drive more efficiently. the u-s environmental protection agency says the fuel economy of 2015 model-year vehicles increased to 24-point-8 miles per gallon. the e-p-a says wider use of lighter materials like aluminum is lowering the weight of vehicles, which improves fuel ecom a military mishap as a plane in flight accidentally drops its bombs. it happened last week as a national guard aircraft was conducting a training exercise at michigan's camp grayling. luckily - the seven bombs were only for training and did not contain explosives. the national guard says it was likely a mechanical issue that caused them to fall off. "if i had to hazard to guess i'd say probably problems with commercial airlines would be much more frequent than what

like this where all of those training ordinances came off of that a-10. so it's pretty darn rare. in the 20 years i've been doing this, i haven't seen a case like that." they all landed in open land and didn't cause any damage. local news now--a man being retried in the 1998 poisoning death of his wife in kenosha county will remain jailed on more than one million dollar bond. has rejected a defense motion to lower mark jensen's bond to 300-thousand dollars. jensen's attorney argued that jensen was not a flight risk because he had made hundreds of mandatory check-ins since he was first convicted in 2008. his conviction was overturned in 2013 when a federal appeals court ruled a letter written by his wife before her death should not have been admitted as evidence. funeral services will be held on friday for fallen rusk

was killed while invesigating a suspicious vehicle. law enforcement from around the state recently got together to take his five-year-old son "levi" trick or treating . this photo posted by the rice lake police department has been shared thousands of times. a southern wisconsin high school wanted to teach students about the dangers of distracted driving but some say their method went too far. during monday's morning announcements, brodhead high school students were told some of their fellow students had died in car crashes. that wasn't true. announcement came-- minutes later-- telling them this was all part of an exercise to warn them about dangerous driving. "a lot of our fellow friends and students actually started crying because they thought these people were actually dead and so i think a lot of them actually called their parents in school too." the superintendent and principal of the school say they only received a few complaints from parents about the drill. school officials and student organizers say their intention wasn't to cause stress.
