milwaukee's common council should vote today on whether to require screens on most windows in rental properties. the vote comes after the tragic death of a two-year old over the summer. his family thinks a window screen might have saved his life. pete zervakis is live with more on the proposed policy right now in milwaukee the building code requries all windows needed for ventilation - typically one per room - to be covered by a window screen. the proposed ordinance windows in rental units to be at least 1/3 covered with a screen. it would in most cases be the property owner's responsibility -- not the tennants -- to install the screens. the council is voting on this proposal about three months after two-year old michael mccoy the third tried crawling feet first through a window at a home near 40th and wright.... when the window fell down onto his neck and killed him. there was no screen on the window. current

teenage boy.jermarro dantzler worked at a state-sanctioned youth home when he sexually assaulted the boy at gunpoint nearly two years ago. dantzler was also given 5 years of extended supervision. happening today - a mukwonago man will be in court for allegedly pushing his girlfriend on to some railroad tracks where she was then hit by a train.brandon calkins is charged with resisting an officer, misdemeanor battery and disorderly conduct. according to criminal complaint... th the woman.she survived but was badly injured. i remember it hit the ceiling and then i think at that point thats when my face ignited a waukesha father re-living a painful grease fire that left his face and body burned.he and his wife are now warning others to keep safe in the kitchen this thanksgiving. chad goratowski told us... one minute he was deep frying chicken for his family last

he remembers is his face on fire.the lid on the chicken he was deep frying, suddenly burst open with flames.he suffered second and third-degree burns.the family says the true hero in all of this was their 11 year old daughter who called 9-1-1. it only takes a second for a fryer fire to get out of control.if you're planning on frying your turkey for thanksgiving: make sure the turkey's fully thawed. and use paper towels to pat it dry inside and out. never er of cooking oil spilling on a hot burner can cause a large fire.and make sure the fryer is on a flat surface.. outdoors... a safe distance away from local agencies are working to collect food to help families this thanksgiving. the hunger task force still needs donations.ann sterling is live with more. students from alverno college are stopping by here to drop off 170 turkeys to hunger task force for thanksgivingthe

miller park. that's where pete zervakis is live to explain the logic behind the proposal. players and fans here at miller park would face fines up to 250 dollars for using smokeless tobacco if the council approves the ban this morning. the milwaukee brewers have said they support the ban.... which would apply not just at miller park. it would take ef across milwaukee... banning chewing tobacco on playing fields... team benches.. fan areas... and even parking lots and tailgating areas outside of sports venues. similar policies are already in place in cities like san francisco... la... boston... and chicago. the proposal passed the public safety committee 5-0 earlier this month. the full common council meets at 9 this

also happening today at city hall: aldermen could vote on a plan to keep your water, safer. you've been hearing a lot about milwaukee's plans to replace old, lead pipes to keep drinking water clean. today-- a plan to ?replace them? is up for a vote. the cost of that fix-- could come down on taxpayers. homeowners ?could wind up paying some money to replace the pipes. "seeing that that's where he was sitting at, to see the bullet holes through the headrest, it just made me sad like...it was just unbelievable. unanswered questions for the family of jay anderson this morning.. they now have the car anderson was in when he was shot and killed by wauwatosa police last summer.. the family tells us it was returned covered in blood and glass after going through froensic testing. they're now waiting for the district attorney to rule on the police
