good morning, it's i'm allison good morning, it's i'm allison kropff. and i'm mark rivera. right now-- the national weather service is trying to figure out how many tornados touched down in mississippi and alabama. the twisters caused a huge amount of damage in those states. 10news reporter sarah hollenbeck is in the newsroom. sarah, even a federal prison is damaged this morning. the federal correctional institution in aliceville, alabama. imagine how scary that would be-- working in a prison when a huge tornado comes through.. luckily the building only had minor

these pictures shows the damage to a nearby community college and church. this morning-- the big scare is what's next. tornados could still impact several areas of the us. the weather service said portions of northern and western alabama including birmingham, tuscaloosa and much of the tennessee valley are still at an elevated risk for tornadoes and damaging winds right now. wind gusts up to 60 mph were possible, which means those cleaning up are working fast to get all this damage out of the way. here's what i'm working on now-- warm and strong winds will cause a looming threat of tornados today for 6 million americans. i'll show you which parts of the country could be in trouble. allison..... flights across the midwest are back on schedule after a major snowstorm. the blizzard brought more than a foot of snow to parts of colorado and cut power to thousands across the plains. cars were left stranded on highways, even semi's and snow plows struggled to get

driving conditions. investigators are trying to figure out what caused an explosion that left a massive hole in a plane. look at this. it happened to a somali jetliner forcing the plane to make an emergency landing on tuesday. 74 people were on board, two people were hurt. the explosion happened shortly after take off. the pilot believes it was a bomb. a small plane makes a dramatic water landing in hawaii. the coast guard says the pilot was the only person on board when he realized he had a landing gear problem shortly after departure. he wanted to return to the honolulu international airport but was not able to lower his gear. as soon as he landed, emergency crews were there for the rescue. thankfully, he was not hurt. the pilot is a 68- year-old visitor

experience. this morning new concerns over the zika outbreak. six new cases of the virus have popped up in florida. that means there are now 9 cases in the state, including two in hillsborough county. but there's one case in texas, that's particularly alarming. 10news reporter emerald morrow is live in tampa outside the florida department of health. emerald, health officials are now saying you can get the virus through sex. - allison...this is so scary - but what you said is true - in one of those six new cases you just mentioned...the person got the zika virus from having sex with someone who had a travel- related infection. just to be clear...this case is out of texas... and there have been no reports of zika contact here in florida. but can you imagine how scary this has dealing with it? especially for women who are want to get pregnant the

ridge, alabama are cleaning up this morning after a tornado hit the area. trees were knocked down making several roads impossible to drive on. the damage will be more visible once the sun comes up. several tornadoes touched down in the south on tuesday. the top army and marine generals say all women should have to register for the draft. combat jobs are already open to women. they say it'll take up to three years before the combat posts are fully integrated. also, they say the military will not lower standards to bring women into the more grueling jobs. there are now two confirmed cases of the zika virus in hillsborough county and nine total in the state of florida. all cases are related to travel outside of the u-s. the florida department of health is monitoring each person.. none of them are pregnant women. you may see a familiar face at this year's tony awards show. actor and comedian james cordon will host this year. cordon is the host of the late late show on 10 news and c-b-s and won a tony for best actor for his
