good morning and welcome to 10 news this morning. i'm allison kropff. and i'm ian reitz. this morning, senator bill nelson is calling on president obama to appoint a zika csar to oversee the government's response to the

three new cases of zika have been found in hillsborough county and a there's a public health emergency declared by governor rick scott for five counties. hillsborough county mosquito control would only tell us the people live on the west side of the county. it's set mosquito traps near that area. they'll send the mosquitoes they catch to be tested for zika by the state department of health. because this is the first time florida will test for zika, they don't know how long it will take. while all of our zika cases are travel-related the concern is that someone will travel, get zika, come back to florida and get bitten by a local mosquito that in turn will transmit the virus to others. governor scott says he wants florida to be ready. the c-d-c is providing extra kits to test those who have zika systems. the agency will also work with our hospitals. right now.. two new york police officers are in the hospital after being shot. it happened thursday night while they were patrolling a housing project in the bronx. police say one suspect turned the gun on himself. another suspect was found with several firearms and arrested. one of the

the face, the other shot in the leg. both are expected to survive. thousands of students are expected to pack into the state fair today for student day. hillsborough county students are given the day off and free tickets to the fair. but that's led to tragedy in the recent past. 10 news reporter jonathan petramala is live at the fair. jonathan, there's a protest planned for today. two years ago there was chaos...mayem in the midway. close to a hundred kids were kicked out. one never made it home. andrew joseph the third was killed after being kicked out of the fair two years ago. andrew was hit by a car trying to cross i-4. that forced change at the fair. parents or guardians must now be contacted if a juvenile is kicked out, and kids must be with an adult after six. but on this somber anniversary, andrew's parents believe that isn't enough. they not only filed a lawsuit this week,
