>> we start tonight getting you ready for yet another round of snow. we want to get right to gwen tolbart with the forecast. >> we're starting out with very cold conditions. that's what we've been dealing with all weekend. but now we are bracing for the snow and it is on the way. let's show you where we stand. this hour, 23 degrees in the nation's capital, 19 in gaithersburg, 21 at baltimore, 23 at fredricksburg and 20 degrees at dulles. but we've got wind chills and that means it feels a lot colder outside than those air temperatures are and some of these values are only single digits which are pretty close to what we had last night at this hour except last night we had some that are below freezing and that can happen in the overnight hours. you can see we've got light snow starting to move in. this however is not our storm system. this is another disturbance heading

we do anticipate seeing some of that snow from the system to the south start to fill in. we're talking at least about a quarter inch of ice or so. and a winter weather advisory in the lighter color. that kicks in monday at 1:00 a.m. right through until 10:00 a.m. on tuesday. we anticipate seeing not only snow, freezing rain, sleet and that wintry mix before it all changes to rain. your overnight lows tonight into the teens pretty much everywhere but i won't rule out single digits there, and we are definitely talking a president's day snowfall that you'll have to prepare for. i'll have the details how long it's going to stick around and how much we are looking at in just a bit. >> team coverage continues right now with fox 5's marina marraco. >> she is's

virginia where preparations are under way for this next within the blast. >> it is a busy night out here. you'll see the front loaders taking care of what they call a b mix. they're making sure they have something down on the ground for the slick spots. you now of course you'll see the trucks back there, the brake lights. some are lined up to start heading out to the main thoroughfares here in loudoun county. now, this is just a small portion of the deployment. this has been going on since about 7:00 this evening. tonight we actually rode along with one of the drivers that will be putting down the driin and i want you to hear from the pr

approach ahead of the snow. >> out here just checking the road, making sure nothing is sticking yet, basically making sure everything has been salt brined. just making sure. by midnight prestaged with 1,400 pieces of equipment. in loudoun county alone i'll have 250 and 300 pieces of equipment. and if we need to, we could ramp up, we could increase those numbers substantially in a short time. >> so you guys will be keeping in touch with meteorologists. >> absolutely. we'll stay on top of that as mother nature dictates. >> reporter: and of course the western counties are going to be having a full-on deployment, as is the district.

alexandra limon reports. >> reporter: there are two churches that operate out of this building. trinity lutheran church and zion praise tabernacle. the pastor at trinity lutheran tells us the suspect deonte carraway frequented both of these churches. they know of 16 children who are sexually assaulted or videotaped for dozens of child porn videos allegedly made by carraway. >> when we found out about that, immediately we recognized him. he has a very distinctive look. so i sent out an e-mail to everybody in the congregation. >> reporter: but it wasn't until days later that they learned the victim was abused in their building. police say other locations where kids

elementary school, aquatic center, private homes and the municipal center where he was the director of a choir. the mother of one of the alleged victims tells fox 5 that choir was in the process of becoming the choir of zion praise lutheran church. >> he acted maybe about a 12-year-old. so we allowed him to go to the very stations of our vacation bible school, like the storytelling station and the game station and the craft station, all under the watchful eye of at least two adults at all times. >> carraway tried to volunteer at their bible camp but didn't have a background check done in time. he may have had a juvenile record for child abuse. we asked prince george's county public schools and they said

for background checks and those checks would not have turned up any information about sealed juvenile charges. the question is how many more victims are out there. >> i had been harmed and abused, i would probably feel very embarrassed or ashamed of it and i9 would probably be really hard for me to talk about. >> reporter: the big concern is that there could be many more victims. again, prince george's county police so far have confirmed 16. but according to two lawsuits that were filed, there could be as many as 30 children. reporting in bowie, alexandra limon, fox 5 local news. >> the body of supreme court justice antonin scalia is expected to arrive in virginia in the next hour or so. scalia's unexpected death in texas yesterday leaves a huge void on the supreme court. the conservative justice served on the court for nearly 30 years and replacing him is expected to cause

>> that's at least one good thing. i don't know if there are parades or festivities. >> they've already been cancelled. >> any outdoor plans you might have for anything, you might want to think about a rain check on that. you know what? we have got lots of cold air in place and we are already seeing a little bit of light snow from an upper level disturbance. lots to talk about tonight so let's begin with radar. because we've got this upper level disturbance that's bringing some light snow in right now. but this is not our main storm system. the main storm system is actually going to develop over the gulf states and move its way up from the south. but we are having a little bit of this and we've had some reports right now in parts of west virginia and also just over the appalachian area we're seeing some light snow from that system and that will continue tonight but in the overnight hours early into monday like 1:00 a.m. or so, that's when we're going to start to see some of

clouds building in tonight, we are talking the light snow in the overnight hours and that is something that is definitely going to be a factor. so take a look. you can see it's starting right now as i mentioned. but once we get into monday we're going to see the mix start to move in as those temperatures start to change. and that's a big issue. heavier snow by monday morning. a mix by monday night. ice is a big concern. and then rain and thunderstorms tuesday. that's another thing that we're watching very closely. as a result much it pushing in later. temperatures right now into the teens and low 20s. it has been bitterly cold. wind chills have made it worse. single digits yesterday we had some wind chill values in the minuses but you know what those single digits sticking around and that's going to be the case as well once we get into tomorrow. the low pressure system from the south will start to

up. >> we're talking freezing rain, sleet. it's going to be a real mess. once we get into monday night, even warmer air. we're going to see rain but that rain will be into tuesday and it's going to be heavy as well. 2-4 inches of accumulation we're thinking here, 4-6 to the west. and then we've got lighter accumulations more to the east. we do have a went storm warning that's already in effect, about a quarter inch of ice and a winter weather advisory. here's future cast for you. once we get into the early hours of tomorrow morning, we start to see that system

joining up with what's already there. by 1:00 we're in the thick of it. we get the rain event. and that rain as i said, very heavy at times on tuesday with a chance of seeing a thunderstorm. so as we put it together for you, light snow overnight into monday, the main event begins monday morning, heaviest snowfall through that day. and in the evening mixed terrain. but boy does it ever warm up by the time we get to tuesday with that rainfall. we're at 50 degrees. 20s today, 30s by monday. big change there. but we'll keep you posted as it continues to develop. we'll be back right after the break.
