>> ♪ >> this is fox5 news morning. >> good morning to you. thank you for joining us. i'm wisdom martin. >> and i'm erin como. today is friday. we have made it to friday, march 24th. >> mike thomas, cold outside. >> watch out for a couple late morning showers that could linger into the early afternoon but then the warm air gets in here. sticks through the weekend as well. weekend forecast coming up in just a bit. >> looking forward to that weekend forecast for sure. right now our top stories at 4:30 and we begin with decision day on capitol hill. the house is and expected to vote on the republican healthcare bill after president trump says get it over with no matter the outcome. a planned vote yesterday was delayed as gop leaders and the white house desperately tried to make changes to the bill that would convince moderate and conservative republicans to support it. president trump reportedly gave members an ultimatum saying he's done negotiating and that if they don't approve the bill today he's moving on to other priorities and obamacare will stay in place.

tough. we knew there was a lot of ideas out there and it's a balancing act to get to 216 in this case to make sure we can pass it. the president is putting everything on this. >> those last minute changes include repealing healthcare benefits that affordable care act requires such as substance abuse treatment and newborn care. >> permit needed to road with construction of the pipeline. days after he took office president trump signed an executive order for construction of keystone and the the dakota access pipeline. thousands of people protested work on that pipeline saying it threatens water supplies and infringes on native american's sacred ground. the d.c. council will hold a final hearing on peter newsham as police chief. more than 80 witness set the testify t acting chief newsham will also testify. >> still no word on what led to a shooting inside of a charles county home. police say a man and a toddler were found dead last night inside the home along west

a woman and a teenager were also found shot inside the home. they survived but they're in critical condition right now. police say the shooting is domestic in nature but haven't said whether the victims are members of the same family. >> rape charges against two teens accused of raping a 14-year-old rockville high school student have inflamed the political battle over illegal immigration. both came into the united states illegally last year. they were caught and targeted for deportation hearings but that never happened r in an exclusive interview with fox news the lawyer for henry sanchez milan says that his client is innocent a claim refuted by police. >> the physical evidence is not there. there's no scratches, there's no bruises, there's no injuries like that. also, this is a bathroom in the middle of the day where it doesn't appear that she was screaming or that anybody heard anything going on. >> there's physical evidence of a rape and sex as its very clear from the investigation that there was no consent in this whatsoever. >> no matter what the outcome

of strong immigration reform say both accused should be deported anyway since they crossed the border illegally. coming up in our 7 o'clock hour we'll speak with the suspect's defense lawyer and his immigration attorney. >> and a prince george's county county police officer is in and trouble with the law again over alleged drunk driving in his police cruiser. officer christopher brown charged with dui after investigators say he clipped a truck on the beltway early yesterday and then crashed into a guardrail. they say he temporarily left the scene as well. brown was off duty at the time. investigators say it's the second time brown has been accused of dui in his cruiser since he joined the force eight years ago. fox5 spoke to with brown's mother and she didn't want to be identified because she is in law enforcement herself. >> well, i'm just glad that he's okay and i'm glad that no one is hurt. i don't tell him what to do, of course, but i taught him right from wrong, so i believe he -- he's a standup kind of guy. i believe he made a mistake, i

good weather coming in and guess what, more importantly for the weekend, 70's, 70's back for your seven day. today we got some good weather to look forward to and it starts this afternoon but not yet because temperatures outside right now on the chilly side. satellite and radar showing clear skies to start but clouds will quickly build in from the west and then you see some showers scooting into eastern -- western portions of pennsylvania and west virginia. those will arrive in a scattered isolated nature later on this morning and into the early afternoon hours as well. very hit and miss and they won't last too long. once they get through we'll get warmer air in here and start getting rid of this cold. 37 degrees at reagan national, 34 at dulles. bwi is at 31 trees this morning. here's your planner for the day today t46 by 11:00 a.m., that's the best chance for showers right around that time. by the afternoon we're still cloudy but we start warming it up. mid 60's by 2 o'clock. by 5 o'clock this afternoon we're talking lowerly 60's around the region and we'll be about 10 to 15 degrees warmer that a and that as we head into your

republicans hoop control the who control thesenate. >> gop members expected to see members that some can prove president trump's claim that the ob administration spied on had imduring the transition. >> a judge has ruled that dominion's coal ash site is polluting virginia water. the judge found in arsenic is illegally flowing from one of dominion's coal ash sites. he didn't impose a civil penalty saying no evidence the discharge is harmful. >> the state of utah getting strict when it comes to alcohol. the state's governor signed a bill giving the state the strictest dui threshold in the country. the measure lowers the mood alcohol limit to 0.05 from 0.08. now the governor says the legislation will save lives. some people aren't happy with the new law and had a rally outside of the

us. i'm erin como. >> and i'm wisdom martin today. is friday march 24th. mike thomas talking about that warm air that has to move in at some point but first we have to deal with the cold. >> uh-huh. >> just got to deal with the cold this morning and then later on this afternoon we'll get the warm air in here and then wisdom can stop complaining because it will be here all weekend long. >> wisdom never complains. >> no, not at all. let's get to the forecast. futurecast showing you we'll have to dodge a couple showers later on this morning. there we are at 8:30 for those of you in the panhandle in maryland. in d.c. around 11:00, 11:30 best chance for a few showers that kind of get out of here as fast as they get in. later on in the afternoon we'll start to mix in with a little bit of sunshine once again. not as bright and blue as yesterday. the skies won't be but warmer conditions with temperatures expected to reach the low 60's later this afternoon. look at your weekend. 75 saturday. should be cloudy but dry. sunday cool kerr. we'll dodge a few showers in the afternoon. that's a look at the forecast.

the weekend and republicans seem to be listening. a vote is scheduled for sometime this afternoon. >> fox news chief congressional correspondent mike emanuel has more. >> for seven and a half years, we have been promising the american people that we will repeal and replace this broken law because it's collapsing its failing families. >> reporter: white house vice reince priebus steve ban onkellyanne conway and and budget director rick mulvaney came to capitol hill this evening urging a vote tomorrow. >> mr. mulvaney made it clear the president is done negotiating that this is a conservative package that lower healthcare costs and so at his request and the leadership's we're moving forward with the vote. >> reporter: and a source in the room tells fox if it fails mulvaney said "it means we're stuck with obamacare." uncertain of the outcome there's concern about impact on the legislative agenda. >> if we don't get this done, where are we going to go when it comes

result. on capitol hill, mike emanuel fox news. >> 4:48 is the time. let's talk about a story fox5 has been following for months, the high number of teens missing in d.c. today d.c. mayor muriel bowser will hold al facebook live town hall meeting to address ongoing concerns specifically concerns of whether an increase and social media media awareness about the missing teens is causing unnecessary panic in the community. the mayor's discussion follows a meeting earlier this week which sparked high emotions among concerned residents. >> some are run aways. some are missing and if you get on top of it and stop looking at everyone as a run away, maybe the problem will be solved faster than what it is. >> police also clarified that most of these cases do not turn into amber alerts because they do not meet the specific qualifications including abduction or imminent danger of injury. >> bad news for metro riders. listen to this. come summer you'll be paying more for less service. yesterday metro's board
