so far i don't find any criminal records. they show him as being a manager of a apartment complex in mesquite and fox news sources also telling us that as far as marilou danley and why she was a person of interest apparently police found her players card in paddock's hotel room. we also see some association here with her and paddock as well as her husband, so more information i'm sure is going to start coming in about who is this man and what was his relationship to these other people. who knows if we'll ever find out why he decided to do this shooting. back up to you guys mel thanks. >> lots of information coming in as this story continues to develop. >> bill byer in las vegas witnessed the mayhem. bill joins us on the phone. bill one question, we don't want to jump to too many conclusions some people are saying this is the deadliest shooting in u.s. history. we don't know if all of those victims were shot or if there was a panic situation as well. i know you saw a lot of

a time as they were triaging people in front of the mgm and getting them in the ambulance and shipping them out. so, you know, at that point i was a little bit more with the journalist hat and tried to get some facts and see what was going on. as i went back up to the escalator to get back up to the bridge, all of a sudden there was panic. there was about 75, a hundred people still on that bridge and we heard reports of gunshots is what they sounded like and we all just took off and we got about three or four blocks away from mgm, off the strip before, you know -- it was crazy. you know, my legs were shaking when i got over there. so, you know, i made my way back after awhile and when i did, the police automatically corralled me and got me into the mgm and at that point it was a
so, i couldn't get in and -- nobody could get in. i couldn't get out. friends of mine were over at new york-new york and we were texting each other back to back on what was going on but a little bit later here, and i got some video that i sent you folks while i was in the lobby of the mgm, the s.w.a.t. team came in, completely armed, automatic weapons. they trucked through the hotel up the escalators. i waited for them to come back down 'cause i knew they were coming up for something. they had a gentleman on a stretcher who seemed to have gunshot wound to his left arm which was bandaged and bleeding and they whisked him out. they did stick around a little bit longer out there looking around and i waited for everybody to leave but that was the last of the real action that i saw besides, you know, folks trying to get back to their loved ones and trying to make sure that everybody was okay. >> well, bill, we want you to defini

venue earlier, the venue really right across the street from where you are now and had left and had run away like so many others had done. how did they describe that scene? was it a complete all-out panic of people running to try to get away? was it semi controlled? what did they say. >> reporter: well, steve, at first what they said is a lot of people didn't even realize this was a shooting. they thought this was part of the concert. two young girls that i talked to said they thought it was just -- just part of the music, when all of a sudden they saw jason aldean basically dive off stage then turned around and they saw a woman with a bullet through her head and that's when they realized something terrible was happening. it was at that same moment a lot of people realized something terrible was happening and then they just ran. there was another gentleman i talked to who was waiting here because police wouldn't let him any closer, he was waiting for his wife who was a waitress over in that area and he said as soon as she realized what was happening, she lept
all the way up here and we were able to see their very emotional, you know, embrace as they got to see each other. a lot of people, you know, very worried about loved ones this morning as we are finding out so many are injured or dead. >> lauren we thank you so much and there is a number out there, 1-866-535-5654. that is the number for people to call to try to locate their family and the thing about vegas is there's a lot of people that travel there so there very much could be people in our area hoping to connect with loved ones that are out there. >> we'll take a short break. lauren thank you very much for the updates. we'll keep you upto date on what's happ happening.
