>> straight ahead at 6:00 all eyes on the nation's capitol. the first charges criminal charges are expected in the russia probe and an arrest could be just hours away. coming up the president's angry response in a series of tweets calling this a witch hunt and pointing the finger at hillary clinton. >> also just a tragic story out of fairfax county. a maryland woman is dead after a young boy tried to jump to his death from an overpass. >> live look outside on this monday. it is october 30th. the rain and the wind moving in not before causing damage in the d.c. region. plus trees down, thousands of power outages leading to traffic troubles. >> the winds and rain we've had part of a nor'easter. wind gusts topping 50 miles an hour leading to half a million power outages. dominion reporting 3,000 outages. pepco up to 2400 most reported just northeast of dupont

circle. bg&e about 3500 outages throughout maryland. check in with tucker for a closeup look at the system. >> yeah, getting very windy. all of a sudden the wind just fired up last night. >> right. >> and gusting up to about 50 miles an hour at times overnight and still dealing with wind early this morning. good news is the wind is going to slowly fall off here and we're going to be left with a cloudy and cool start but you can see winds at this hour still quite strong there. look at dulles, 41 miles per hour wind gusts, 28 here in the city, 39 in annapolis. so, yeah, winds for a few more hours, then as that system starts to get a little further away from us the wind should lighten up this afternoon. cooler temperatures have moved in. 48 in washington. we've got wind chills in the 30's. i'll have all the details on the forecast, let you know when the wind is out of here and the rest of the rain and the temperatures coming up in just a minute. all right, i'm going to toss it over to erin. she has the latest on the roads. >> good morning tucker. this is one of many problems we're dealing with as a result of the windy and wet weather and roads. this is a portion of

learning the first charges revealed in the robert mueller investigation. >> reports have circulated for days now that a federal indictment will be unsealed today. fox5's melanie alnwick is live outside the u.s. district court now with more. good morning, mel. >> reporter: good morning, steve and allison and yesterday morning president trump reacted angrily in a series of tweets calling this a witch hunt and evil politics saying the real collusion is between his former opponent hillary clinton and russia. finally ending with this tweet you're about to see here basically suggesting that all of this is just a diversion from republicans plan to push for tax cuts and tax reform. now, what we know according to reporting by the "wall street journal" and others is that prosecutors from special counsel robert mueller's team did present evidence to a grand jury on friday. and whatever that evidence was, it was enough to convince the jury to sign off on charges against one or more individuals. on fox news sunday congressman trey gowdy, a f

this point it's impossible to say how big of a deal these charges really are. >> it's going to be really important whether or not this indictment involves 15-year-old business transactions or 15 day old conversations with russia. so, it's really important what the charge is. it's really important who the person being charged is. >> reporter: now, apart from the big names that we have heard paul manafort or former national security adviser general michael flynn it's also possible that the person being charged is someone we've never even heard of before. now, what we understand is we believe that those charges could be filed sometime late this afternoon and once those charges are filed, it is also entirely possible we could see an arrest later today. live at u.s. district court, i'm melanie alnwick, fox5 local news. >> talk with a former federal prosecutor as well. fox5 followi

developments on the death of a woman. a 12-year-old boy jumped from an overpass and landed other suv below on saturday. the impact killed the driver 22-year-old marisa harris. the boy who jumped is in the hospital with life-threatening injuries. it's not clear if any charges will be filed if he survives. >> this morning, police are searching for the person who shot a 14-year-old boy over the weekend on north laurel road in laurel. the victim taken to johns hopkins hospital with life-threatening injuries. no word on a suspect or a motive in this case. anyone with information is asked to call police. >> former montgomery county school employee will be sentenced in just a couple hours for having a sexual relationship with a student. police say 57-year-old mark yantsos. he was out on bond and he had sex with the student again. he's already accepted a plea deal of 18 months behind bars. >> ♪

on fox. boy did it go late. five hours and 17 minutes. game five of the world series didn't wrap up until 1:30 this morning. in a back and forth high scoring game lots of home riruns. astros came out on top 13 to 12. alex braid man was the hero. houston now leads the series three games to two, one win away from their first world series title but they'll have to do it back in los angeles. justin verlander and rich hill on the mound. verlander posted this to twitter. here's a before and after photo of me from that game. what a crazy game. took 40 plus years off my life. >> that's pretty funny. >> ♪ >> that's kind of like us when we wake up at 4:00 a.m. versus on a weekend. >> right. >> that is hilarious. >> kind of looks the same to me. >> it did. >> yeah, he looks the same. >> well -- >> he was aged. >> he didn't notice.

downed tree in mclean. dealing with so many issues around the area including several traffic lights out in the district in northwest. north capitol street at e street, 14th street at h street as well as 13th street and peabody street. georgia avenue at w street. causing a lot of traffic delays as you try to get through these areas. you'll have to take turns. southbound side of 395 after glebe road we have a crash blocking the right lane and right shoulder. northbound volume picking up. watch for the potential to hydroplane and as you wake up use a lot of caution in your neighborhoods on those secondaries. chevy chase a downed tree closing beach drive at 410. also keep in mind in anne arrundel we have a downed tree at several locations, at bend field road and veterans highway light street avenue at margaret road. 50 keep in mind the bay bridge is over. there's wind restrictions in place across the bay bridge. they're restricting empty box trucks as well as trailers

>> breaking news overnight. revealing bombshell from actor kevin spacey after accusations he sexually harassed a fellow actor who was that underage at the time. >> kevin spacey took to twitter to respond to accusations and major revelation about himself but this morning some are criticizing how he's responding. holly morris joins us in studio with more on this bizarre twisting tale. >> people are questioning why he chose now to make that revelation when it is really not a surprise. actor kevin spacey responded on twitter to allegations from actor anthony rapp who says spacey laid on top of him when he was just 14 years old. the alleged incident happened at a party at spacey's apartment back in 1986. rapp says he was the last one at spacey's apartment when he picked him up and climbed on top of him in a sexual advance. rapp says the harvey weinstein scandal prompted him to speak out. spacey took to twitter soon after those accusations came

horrified to hear rapp's story and also tweeted "i honestly do not remember the encounter but if i did behave as he describes i owe him the sincerest apology for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behavior." spacey went on to say that this story has encouraged him to address other issues in his life. he says he chooses to live as a gay man now. spacey has been famously private about his personal life and sexual orientation. but this coming out moment for him has drawn a lot of criticism on twitter because of the circumstances. actress wanda sykes tweeted overnight, no, no, no, no, you do not get to choose to hide under the rainbow. many others are also criticizing him on social media. they say he's using his sexuality to distract from the accusations. >> i would agree with that. >> i would agree with that. i mean, i would agree with that. he's kind of hinted at him being gay for some time so it's not a big surprise i guess he makes the official statement but i have to say i al

>> dupont circle. if it looks dark, well, guess what, there's not a lot of power in dupont this morning. the outages, about 2,000 people. those traffic lights are on. be careful if you're out driving to make sure you have lights. four-way stop if there's no light keep that in mind. more traffic details from erin in a minute but a lot of folks waking up this morning without power and tuck a lot of that because of the high winds. >> almost 50 miles an hour winds. yeah, but winds last night gusting in some spots about 50 miles an hour,

enough unfortunately to cause some damage across the area. gusty winds continue overnight here and early this morning. we're still looking at winds early at about 30 to 40 miles an hour and we're still under a wind advisory until 10 o'clock this morning. so, the good news is the winds will slowly start to let up here over the next couple hours as our storm system gets a little further off to the north and northeast and gets away from the area but we've got a few more hours where the winds could gust up to about 40 and that could cause some additional downed tree limbs and issues with power, et cetera. here are your current numbers. 28 in washington. look at annapolis, 39 miles per hour wind gusts. 37 up in baltimore, 41 dulles so we're just not done with the winds yet. our storm system is still really wrapping up bringing not only strong winds to the midatlantic but if you get up towards new jersey, new york, new england they're dealing with gusty winds as well. cool temperatures have moved in. warm and stickiest morning. cool air got in here late in the day. 48 washington, 45 gaithersburg, 48 annapolis, 45 leonardtown, 44 in

fredericksburg. mix in those winds and it feels like 30's out. take a jacket when you head out this morning. rain is out of here pushing to the east and gradually we'll see the clouds go with it so cloudy out at this hour but by this afternoon we should be kind of partly sunny and cool. daytime highs about 50 but a dry afternoon for us as we're under the influence of this big area of low pressure. windy. temperatures in the upper 50's. thi will be the coolest day of the week and then we'll gradually warm up. halloween evening dusk trick-or-treaters couldn't be better. 56 frighteningly clear, bone chillingly cool. the little ones might want a jacket. we'll have warmer temperatures by the middle of the week. thursday and friday back into the 70's. today is the cool one of the week and then a gradual warmup, near 70 thursday, friday. looks great tomorrow, sunshine for halloween. >> my halloween costume for the show tomorrow game in the mail this weekend. >> gorgeous. >> i wouldn't necessarily say gorgeous but it's

>> okay. >> i'm excited. >> me, too. >> makes me hungry. >> tucker's is better than mine. unfortunately it's a mess on the roads right now. this is a live look from northwest where we're dealing with a downed tree and downed power lines this is shutting down the 3900 block of garrison street in northwest. be prepared to slow it down there. let's switch it over because we have several power outages in the area and that is causing traffic lights to go out. this is a look at the intersection of new hampshire avenue in northwest at r street. traffic lights on flash. we have a sizable amount of debris on the roads. watch for slick spots from all of those wet leaves. traffic getting by but slow it down. you can see that traffic light is not working. that's not the only intersection impacted in the district. in northwest we have north capitol street at e street, 14th street at h street, 13th street at peabody street as you head out around the district please take it slow and treat those intersections as though you would a stop sign. we have a crash h street at 14th street in northwest. so a lot of problems in the district as well as vir

the week on a really high note. the dow up 33. the s & p 500 up 20 to 2581. and the nasdaq and s & p surged to record highs thanks to all of those earnings we saw on thursday from the big cap tech titans amazon, alphabet, microsoft intel, all four of those stocks also surging near record highs as well. now, as far as the nasdaq it closed its 61st record of 2017. today could be 62. we will see. >> we'll keep our eyes opened for that. in the mean time we're also waiting to see who the new fed chief is going to be. leading candidate -- the big question as far as the economy goes is will big business like this choice. >> reporter: absolutely. wall street will be watching to see who this new fed chair will be and what they will do. right now the "wall street journal" reporting that the president repte

towards current federal governor chair jerome powell to take over for janet yellen whose term expires in february of 2018. he's expected to announce his decision sometime later this week before he heads on his trip to asia. so, we will see who that person is. i know wall street is anxiously awaiting some sort of nomination there. >> apple making a couple of headlines this morning. both really one way or another involving the newest iphone, the iphone x, one in the testing phase of it aren't the other in folks that apparently might be changing their minds after they just bought the latest phone. >> reporter: absolutely. so, we'll get to the testing phase. a silicon valley team name brook amelia peterson posted a five minute video on youtube. it was just a video of herself shopping for clothes for makeup but then she went and visited her dad who is an apple engineer at

cupertino campus. they met for dinner they were eating pizza and for dinner he hands over her iphone x. she's still rolling her youtube video and in this video viewers get a 452nd glimpse at the new iphone x, which apple has been trying to keep a secret for so long and here this teen is just showing kind of all of the features of the new iphone and blogs got ahold of this. apple got wind of this. they asked her to take down the video but it was too late. they fired her father who is an engineer there and since then, she's posted another video on youtube apologizing, saying that her dad understands he broke the rule. unfortunately this is just the consequence. tough life lesson for this young girl to learn. >> sure is. tracy we got to go. real quick before we do people just bought the iphone8. now they're already getting rid of it. >>

stories and we're just hours away from possibly learning the first charges revealed in the robert mueller investigation. reports have circulated for days now that a federal indictment will be unsealed today. two possible targets include former trump campaign chair paul manafort and former national security adviser michael flynn. >> ♪ and we're just eight days away from voters choosing a new governor in virginia. a rally is planned tonight outside of an event for ed gillespie in sterling, virginia. florida senator marco rubio will campaign for the gop candidate. protesters are meeting to rally against rubio joining gillespie on the campaign trail. if you can't vote on election day, time is running out to get that absentee ballot. the deadline to request a ballot is 5:00 p.m. tomorrow. you have until november 4th to turn in absentee ballot. election day again november 7th. polls will be opened from 6:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. steve, over to you for the morning line. >> thanks very much. time for the morning line.

skins in just a minute because of course we have to phone some friends for that. baseball game five of the world series really will go down as one of the greatest offensive battles ever in a world series game. it was supposed to be a pitching dual with each team's number one starter on the mound. dallas keuchel only lasted three innings, clayton kershaw out of the game by the fifth. astros had been down four-nothing. they rallied with four home runs to tie things up. and then the back and forth went until the tenth inning. tied at 12. alex pretty good man with the game winning single. three-two lead for the astros now as they win the game and take the lead in the series. game six in los angeles tomorrow night. verlander on the mound, rich hill for the dodgers. after the world series is all said and done the nationals will officially announce their new manager. it will be cubs bench coach dave martinez. he agreed to a three year deal with a option. he has
