weather alert day meteorologist howard bernstein is tracking what is coming our way. >> this is unusual in the sense that our average highs are in the low 60s and many areas are in the low 70s. we have a few showers ahead of this front. this is what we are tracking, well to the north and west of washington. a few of these goods week through in the next -- of view of these over the next few hours. this is right through frederick toward westminster. in carolyn frederick counties -- frederick county and down toward jefferson is where we are seeing the bulk of the showers

occurred about 9:30 last night. the victim died at the hospital. police are offering a reward for information leading to his killer. it was a big night for dc police. they spent hours on multiple crime scenes just blocks away. hillary lane spoke with some of the neighbors who are fed up with the violence. were >> reporter: the violent night began here right here on the 1900 block of 16th street when a man was found neighbors finding of the news this morning, and man was shot in the head. he was lying here in this alleyway on 16th street southeast. he was pronounced dead at a little after midnight. this is the second homicide here in 2 months. at the end of the summer, talk of people were shot on the block in broad daylight. 17-year-old kevin anthony jackson was killed. >> it makes you feel unsafe. report to another report of violence just 2 miles away on the 3600 block of brothers place southeast. woman called police and said

she's also charged with trying to kill her two-year-old daughter. it's a fight two years in the making in the takoma park area and neighbors are split over a proposed dog park. nearly 600 people signed a petition calling for the park. they had met with opposition. >> reporter: it all started with an idea as was walking his dog through this tacoma rec center. >> we realized there was so much space available at the tacoma recreation center and we started to wonder why there wasn't a dog park already here. report that started a journey that would turn into a two your battle, debate, frustration and opposition. in that time four sites had been proposed on the park and all of them have been met by neighbor complaints. earlier this month the most recent proposal for this plot of land right here was denied by the department of parks and recreation. the denial came amid complaints from longtime neighbors such as charles who

for miles. a new investigation is raising concerns about how airline pilots are being regulated in this country. our sister station in dallas found that nearly 80 airline pilots in texas have had criminal convictions over the last decade including dwis and assault charges. the faa relies on pilots to self-report such things but it doesn't always happen. experts say this isn't isolated to one state. any idea as to how dangerous this guys actually are in terms of the people flying them around. >> faa officials to conduct random drug and alcohol tests but some claim the system is flawed. this is what can happen when your car outperforms her driving skills. the owner of this $250,000 spider apparently lost control and crashed into several cars before hitting a utility pole. police suspect the driver was street racing with another car to stay night.
