to sea from our area for the last time, i'll explain why. a deadly house explosion in ohio is breaking news this morning. firefighters say a family of four died. crews found the bodies of a couple and their two young children at the scene. it happened late last night in northfield which is about 20 miles south of cleveland. neighbors described the intensity of the fire. s/mos/witness :06 "to see fire that big and that close like 30 feet high it was like wow, wow" this morning, crews are working to find out what caused the explosion. we have a lot of news to cover before you head out the door. but first jen lewis is keeping an eye out on any problems on the road. and meteorologist jeremy wheeler is tracking come cold temperatures this morning. jeremy. evidence from jesse matthew, junior's apartment will stand in hannah graham's murder trial. it's the latest development to come out in the u-v-a student's death. a judge ruled there was probable cause to search matthew's home. during yesterday's hearing, we also learned a police k-9 picked up hannah's

and at his apartment complex. police said the bloodhound tracked her scent to a construction mulch pile in an industrial area of charlottesville. another pre-trial motions hearing for the case is scheduled for later this month. today a trial is set for one of the local sailors accused of torturing a cat to death. we first told you about this story last year in virginia beach. police say cody gerarden and justin page suffocated a cat in april. a microchip in the cat indicated page was its owner. boith men faces animal cruelty and conspiracy charges. geraden's trial is expected to begin today. page's trial is scheduled to start in march. happening today, a locally-based ship will head out to sea for a new home. the u-s-s barry is scheduled to leave naval station norfolk in just a crew swap with the u-s-s lassen. rico bush is live at naval station norfolk this morning with more on the change in homeports. rico, good morning.

lex. navy officials say the u-s-s barry will depart naval station norfolk later this morning to join the forward deployed naval forces in japan. once the ship arrives in asia and swaps with the u-s-s lassen, the lassen will return to the united states and homeport in flordia following a 10-year forward deployment in japan. the lassen will then undergo changes to upgrade its combat systems. the navy says the move is part of its strategy to secure peace, security, and stability in the asian-pacific region and to make an overseas force structure change. 10 on your side plans to be there to say goodbye. look for a full report later today on wavy news 10 at 4. live in norfolk, rico bush, 10 on your side. student on student crime. police say a man from a local college robbed students at another university at gunpoint. getting out of jail. the mom suspected of helping her son

when they demanded personal items from the victims. it happened just after 4 in the morning, in a dorm parking lot near killam avenue and 43rd street. officials say o-d-u police arrested the suspects within 10 minutes. students say they typically feel safe on campus. sots c7 ashleigh hicks - odu senior 15:21:16 "i do and i don't, i take the proper precautions, i don't do anything to put myself in harm's way, so it's just a matter of like, your mental state, don't do anything you shouldn't be doing to ensure safety." the two suspects are behind bars this morning. they face felony charges including armed robbery and conspiracy. a woman accused of stealing thousands of dollars from a jewish temple pleaded guilty. she admitted to taking more than $60 thousand dollars from her former employer. leslie bradner was the bookkeeper at temple israel in norfolk for 16 years. she left the job in 2014. a couple months later an outside auditor noticed the

decided to suspend her jail time because bradner's father paid the money back to the temple. "she was employeed with the temple for 16 years and everybody got to know her she was a member of the temple family and it is a real tragedy not only for the temple but for her and her family" bradner got a 4 year sentence but the judge suspended it. she also needs to do 250 hours of community service. court documents show bradner took the money to help pay bills. the pentagon says the number of detainees at guantanamo bay is about to drop below 100. at it's peak in 2003, the prison held about 680 detainees. the white house says president barack obama is ready to present a new plan to congress to close the cuban dention center, before he leaves office. the president says the prison is a recruiting tool for terrorists and is too costly to maintain. the pentagon is expected to approve

bill cosby's lawyers have filed a motion to dismiss the charges against him in pennsylvania. last month prosecutors charged the actor and comedian with three counts of aggravated indecent assault for a case in 2004. cosby lawyers said prosecutors illegally, improperly, and unethically filled the charges after a deposition in the case was made public. george washingtion university is delivering another blow to cosby. the university is taking back the honorary degree it recently gave him. a sheriff in texas says the mother of the affluenza teen posted a $75-thousand dollar bail last night. workers are expected to
