brought in cleaners and performed air quality tests. they started cleaning the old paint yesterday, and will continue the operation today. hilton will stay closed until air tests are back to normal. administrators will notify parents when its okay for students to come back to class. now to breaking news overseas, where at least 10 people and 15 are hurt after an explosion. turkey's president says a suicide bomber with links to syria is believed to be behind the blast. turkey's government said it will hold a meeting beccause of it. witnesses say the blast was so strong it rattled buidlings. it happened in istanbul, in a popular tourist district. at the center of the city. you can see in this video security forceas and emergency personnel responding to the blast. today sergeant bowe bergdahl is expected to court. the former afghan taliban captive has a pre-trial hearing this morning in fort bergdahl faces desertion and misbehavior before the enemy charges. he's accused fo leaving

in 2009. the taliban captured and held him for five years before the u-s swapped guantanamo bay prisoners for his years before the u-s later this morning, we bid farwell to a locally-based ship. the u-s-s barry will be heading to a destination half way across the world. and, it won't be returning to hampton roads. the guided-missle destroyer is changing new base in japan. rico bush is live at naval station norfolk with the navy's change. rico - lex, the navy says the move is part of its strategy to secure peace, security, and stability in the asian-pacific region. and, to protect american allies with an overseas force structure change. the u-s-s barry is scheduled to head out to sea from naval station norfolk in about four hours. the guided-missile destroyer will swap with the u-s-s lassen and become a member of the forward deployed naval forces in japan. the u-s-s lassen will return to the united states and homeport in

today to the house will vote on legislation that expands sanctions on north korea. the vote is punishment for the country's latest nuclear test. north korea claims it tested an h-bomb. here's a live look at the capitol building where today's vote will take place. a part of one of the tougher sanctions is denying north korea hard currency, which the country says it needs for its weapons programs. there's still no confirmation that north korea actually tested an h-bomb. south korean experts analyzed atmosphere samples from over the sea of japan. they say the results aren't conclusive. experts say one signature

helium, and that is difficult to gather. the sample amount they were able to gather was very small. one republican candidate says he will not participate in the next debate on thursday. rand paul's announcement came after he found out he didn't qualify for the main debate stage. he does have a spot in the earlier debate. however, he told cnn's wolf blitzer he won't participate in anything other than the first tier, because his campaign is first tier. "we were just told they have a mathematical problem over there and they're adding the numbers. and we think they're confused, because they're not including us on the main stage, and we think they're really wrong with that. because if you look at the poll numbers, the last half-a- dozen polls that have come out, we've been in either fifth or sixth or one point away from four." fox business announced these candidates will be on the main stage. they are john kasich, chris christie, marco rubio, donald trump, ted cruz, ben carson, and jeb bush.

learning a lot more about the shooting that killed a norfolk police dog. police say 58-year-old keith richardson shot and killed krijger during a standoff overnight monday. we spoke with officer jake clark, a k-9 handler in norfolk. clark was not there for the situation on land street and couldn't comment on what happened. however, he introduced us to his partner, basco, and talked to us about the do everything together. we get ready for work together. we come to work. we train hard all day. and then when we go home, we go home together. that builds a bond that's indescribable. "to lose any partner. officer k9 or not. is a heartfelt reaction felt throughout the department that no one can put into words." the nofolk police department posted a message about on its facebook page. it said in part: "he served n-p-d for three years and faithfully gave his life to protect ours. rest in peace, krijger. your work is done, but never forgotten." a department spokesperson said there will be a service for krijger, but they have not announced plans yet. jethro, a k-9 with the

department died sunday after a weekend shootout. the department reached out to norfolk police to offer their condolences about krijger. the suspect in the norfolk shooting is still in the hospital this morning. as of yesterday, police say he's in critical condition. the hospital won't release an update, but we're told keith richardson is expected to survive. police say his wife called them and said he threatened to kill her. that started the seven-hour standoff at his home on land street. a little before 1:30, police tried to use krijger to arrest richardson, but officers say he shot the dog. richardson's neighbor says it was all self defense. gene strickland, neighbor/witness :53 - 1:14 "they'd already busted into his house. he was trying to make sure his car. he was trying to get the other one. when the police shot him in the leg.and then sticked the dogs on him. when he went down and the dog was all over him, that's when he took the gun and shot that dog. it was totally in self defense there. richardson faces several charges including

firearm in commission of a felony. we've also learned he worked as a manager and firearms instructor at bob's gun shop in norfolk. a shop owner said because of the severity of the charges, richardson can never work there again. now a follow-up to a story we brought you on friday out of new york. the village of whitesboro voted last night to keep their very controversial seal. here's a look at it. village officials say it shows the founder in a "friendly" wrestling match with indigenous people. the logo has been called racist and offensive, but residents voted overwhelmingly to keep it 157 to 55. the seal appears all over the village, on police cars, signs, and stationery. oh dear! rescue crews had to pull two deer from the frigid waters of northern poland. check out this video of the operation. several firemen and police officers raced to the scene after the deer got stuck in an icy river. they used rescue boats to reach the animals.

morning suicide bombing are foreigners. the prime minister also identified the suicide bomber as a 28-year-old from syria. the blast happened in istanbul, in a popular tourist district. at the center of the city. witnesses said it was so strong it rattled buildings. we'll continue to monitor this and we'll have more details ahead at 8. a deadly house explosion in ohio is breaking news this morning. firefighters say a family of four died. crews found the bodies of a couple and their two young children at the scene. it happened late last night in northfield which is about 20 miles south of cleveland. neighbors described the intensity of the fire. s/mos/witness :06 "to see fire that big and that close like 30 feet high it was like wow, wow" this morning, crews are working to find out what caused the explosion. evidence from jesse matthew, junior's apartment will stand in hannah graham's murder trial. it's the latest development to come out

death. a judge ruled there was probable cause to search matthew's home. during yesterday's hearing, we also learned a police k-9 picked up hannah's scent in matthew's car and at his apartment complex. police said the bloodhound tracked her scent to a construction mulch pile in an industrial area of charlottesville. another pre-trial motions hearing for the case is scheduled for later this month. today a trial is set for one of the local sailors accused of torturing a cat to death. we first told you about this story last year in virginia beach. police say cody gerarden and justin page april. a microchip in the cat indicated page was its owner. cruelty and conspiracy charges. geraden's trial is expected to begin today. page's trial is scheduled to start in march. happening today, a locally-based ship will head out to sea for a new home. the u-s-s barry is scheduled to leave naval station norfolk in just a few hours

police dog. police say 58-year-old keith richardson shot and killed krijger during a standoff overnight monday. we spoke with officer jake clark, a k-9 handler in norfolk. clark was not there for the situation on land street and couldn't comment on what happened. however, he introduced us to his partner, basco, and talked to us about the bond they share. norfolk police dept. "we do everything together. we get ready for work together. we come to work. we train hard all day. and then when we go home, we go home together. that builds a bond that's indescribable. butt to (sot is partially under vo) 1:20 - 1:27 "to lose any that no one can put into words." the nofolk police department posted a message about on its facebook page. it said in part: "he served n-p-d for three years and faithfully gave his life to protect ours. rest in

your work is done, but never forgotten." a department spokesperson said there will be a service for krijger, but they have not announced plans yet. jethro, a k-9 with the canton, ohio police department died sunday after a weekend shootout. the department reached out to norfolk police to offer their condolences about krijger. the suspect in the norfolk shooting is still in the hospital this morning. as of yesterday, police say he's in critical condition. the hospital won't release an update, but we're told keith richardson is expected to survive. police say his wife called them and said he threatened to kill her. that started the seven-hour standoff at his home on land street. a little before 1:30, police tried to use krijger to arrest richardson, but officers say he shot the dog. richardson's neighbor says it was all self defense. gene strickland, neighbor/witness :53 - 1:14 "they'd already busted into his house. he was trying to make sure his dogs were taken care of and they were ok.he managed to get one of them and put into his car. he was trying to get the other one. when the police shot him in the

dogs on him. when he went down and the dog was all over him, that's when he took the gun and shot that dog. it was totally in self defense there. richardson faces several charges including abduction, and use of a firearm in commission of a felony. we've also learned he worked as a manager and firearms instructor at bob's gun shop in norfolk. a shop owner said because of the severity of the charges, richardson can never work there again. there are two sides to every story. the family of a chesapeake man, sentenced for a deadly bar fight, says the judge's sentence was too harsh. the victim's family says justice was done. 10 on your side was in court when a judge put ronnie cisko behind bars for 14 years. 10 years for the death of chuck setchel. and four more for a probation violation. cisko admitted he killed setchel during a fight in 2014 at zino's restaurant and bar. in court, cisko apologized and said he didn't mean to kill setchel. the judge said he understood that, but went with a higher sentence, because of

police say they demanded money at gunpoint, then ran off. if you know anything about the suspects in this video, call the crime line. now a follow-up to a story we brought you on friday out of new york. the village of whitesboro voted last night to keep their very controversial seal. here's a look at it. village officials say it shows the founder in a "friendly" wrestling match with indigenous people. the logo has been called racist and offensive, but residents voted overwhelmingly to keep it 157 to 55. the seal appears all over the village, on police cars, signs, and stationery. oh dear! rescue crews had to pull two deer from the frigid waters of northern poland. check out this video of the operation. several firemen and police officers raced to the scene after the deer got stuck in an icy river. they used rescue boats to reach the animals. it took about two hours to get them out. as you can see, the deer
