happening today - a norfolk city leader accused of using his political office for personal gain is scheduled to head back to court. norfolk city treasurer and former vice-mayor anthony burfoot has a scheduled arraignment on several felony charges in a federal courtroom this afternoon. earlier this month, a grand jury indicted burfoot on public corruption and perjury charges, alleging he used his office to solicit favors and gifts. rico bush has been following this story since it broke. he's live at the norfolk federal courthouse this morning with more on what's ahead for burfoot. rico - don, katie, sources tell us burfoot is expected to plead not guilty to the felony charges in court today. we're told he is going to request a jury trial - and from there, the court will set a trial date. and, it'll most likely be months from now. federal prosecutors allege, in exchange for cash, meals, travel and other

position as a city council member to help direct city projects to several private companies. according to a 30-page indictment released two weeks ago, prosecutors say burfoot was part of a scheme to defraud the city. it says dating back to 2-thousand-5, burfoot received almost half-a-million dollars from companies, including now- defunct company, tivest development and construction and promised city votes in return. burfoot and his attorney have denied the allegations, and added they are prepared for the fight. andrew sacks - attorney c10 1:35 - this is a false accusation. it appears that people who do not have anthony burfoot's best interests at heart have said things that are not true. made up false accusations. :46 in all, burfoot faces eight felony counts, including perjury, conspiracy to commit honest services wire fraud and conspiracy to obtain property under color of official right. he says he has no plans to step down

if convicted, he could face anywhere from five to twenty years in prison. live in norfolk, rico bush, 10 on your side. breaking news from the middle east. police said a group of militants stormed a university in pakistan under the cover of dense fog. at least 20 people died in an attack including students and an professor. witnesses heard gunfire and two explosions. security killed four for the gunmen who scaled the walls around campus. at least sixty other people were hurt. fox news reports the taliban claimed responsibility for the attack. this morning we're working to learn more about a deadly car crash in portsmouth. it happened last night on ansell avenue near george washington highway and frederick boulevard. police tell us two vehicles crashed and a female passenger died. the cause is under investigation. new this morning, charges are pending after police say a pick-up truck crashed into a home. it happened last night on

residents came out to tell the mayor and city council how they feel about where the city is headed. more than 120 people piled into the churchland library last night. for almost an hour, residents asked why there was a lack of transparency in the city's government. we tried to talk to the mayor aftwerwards about a number of issues but he did not answer our questions. clip 110 1:51:08-1:51:41 "the people tonight were concerned about the lack of information and there were about a hundred people from portsmouth, thousand will be watching, what do you want to say to them?" taylor says he plans to run for rigell's seat. developing this morning, an apology to the people in flint, michigan. governor rick snyder said he was sorry over the lead water crisis. here's how he began his annual state of the state address. (gov. rick snyder/(r) michigan) "government failed you. federal, state and local leaders, by breaking the trust you've placed in us. i'm sorry most of all that i let you down. you deserve better. you deserve accountability. governor snyder promised to clean the water, and to make sure all residents had a filter. in 2014 the state switched the city's water source to the flint river to save money. many people called for the governor to resign, but so far he has refused. researchers from virginia tech said they helped uncover the contaminated water in michigan. a team went to flint to test the water and found high levels of lead.

a day after rescuing a driver from truck, actor jamie foxx said he did not consider himself to be a hero. the california highway patrol says foxx and another person helped free the driver after the driver rolled his truck actor's home outside l-a on monday. troopers say the 32-year-old driver was drunk and speeding. kyle's father met the actor yesterday to thank foxx for saving his
