now to a big federal court case out of norfolk, involving a local political leader facing some very serious charges. norfolk city treasurer

anthony burfoot is heading back to court later this afternoon to be arraigned on public corruption charges. federal prosecutors say burfoot received almost half-a-million dollars in cash, meals, travel and other gifts, in exchange for votes in the city. rico bush is live at the norfolk federal courthouse this morning with more on the man at the center of the federal court case. rico - don, burfoot is expected to make his second appearence in court today - he is facing eight felony counts, including conspiracy to commit wire fraud and perjury charges. according to a 30-page indictment released two weeks ago, federal prosecutors alledge the norfolk city treasurer was part of a scheme to defraud the city. it says dating back to 2-thousand-5, burfoot used his political office for personal gain when he on city council, while also helping private companies at the same time. prosecutors say he promised city votes in exchange for gifts and

companies, including now-defunct tivest development and construction. if convicted, burfoot could be in prison anywhere from five to twenty years, but his attorney is confident that won't happen. 1st bite - andrew sacks - attorney c10 3:45 - the he did because it was best for the city. it has nothing to do with the fact that it to plead not guilty to the felony charges in court . we're told he is going to request a jury trial - and from there, the court will set a trial date. and, it'll most likely be months from now. burfoot has served the city for 14 years. he says he has no plans to step down, despite the serious allegations. live in norfolk, rico bush. 10 on your side. new this morning, isis is acknowledging the death of jihadi john. the "site intelligence group" tracks terrorist activity.

"a gentleman cam up to me, he was very polite, said he was in the military and needed directions. and then the next man came up with a knife and said get in the car now." the woman says the men forced her into the backseat of her car, and covered her head with a jacket. she says they took out her wallet, got her id, and wrote down her name and address. then the men forced her to take out money at different a-t-ms. at the first two stops, her card didn't work, and the men got agitated, so she tried to calm them down. :54- 1:03 now they're panicking a little. and i said, calm down guys we can figure this out. beacuse i didn't wnat them to get panicky and do something rash. the woman said the ordeal lasted a couple of hours. afterwards, the men apologized, and dropped her off near a store. take a good look at the surveillance pictures.

are his words enough for the people of flint? but first, we want to update you on breaking news from the middle attacked a university in pakistan. the taliban claimed responsibility for the attack. a gunbattle between security forces and the militants lasted for hours, and ended about two hours ago. the security forces went block-by-block counting the dead. at least 60 others are hurt. overnight the militants scaled walls around the university killing whoever came in sight. this happened less than 25 miles from where the taliban attacked another university last year, killing 145 people. happening today in hampton roads - a norfolk city leader accused of using his political office for personal gain is scheduled to head back to court. norfolk city treasurer and former vice-mayor anthony burfoot has a scheduled arraignment on several felony charges in a federal courtroom this afternoon. earlier this month, a grand jury indicted burfoot on public

of redistricting. congressman rigell is retiring after this term. republican delegate scott taylor says he plans to run for rigell's seat. this morning we're working to learn more about a deadly car crash in portsmouth. it happened last night on ansell avenue near george washington highway and frederick boulevard. police tell us two vehicles crashed and a female passenger died. the cause is under investigation. now to a follow-up about raids at six chesapeake massage parlors. investigators arrested more than a dozen women in the raids. here is a look at some of their mugshot we got from police. on friday, chopper 10 was above one of the massage palors as homeland security investigators escorted people away. they told us they were making sure no one lived at any of the businesses or violating city code. investigators are also making sure there was no human trafficking going on at the parlors.

an apology to the people in flint, michigan. governor rick snyder said he was sorry over the lead water crisis. here's how he began his annual state of the state address. (gov. rick snyder/(r) michigan) "government failed you. federal, state and local leaders, by breaking the trust you've placed in us. i'm sorry most of all that i let you down. you deserve better. you deserve accountability. governor snyder promised to clean the water, and to make sure all residents had a filter. in 2014 the state switched the city's water source to the flint river to save money. many people called for the governor to resign, but so far he has refused. researchers from virginia tech said they helped uncover the contaminated water in michigan. a team went to flint to test the water and found high levels of lead. the scientists told the state's department of environmetnal quality but say they ended up getting attacked. back in blacksburg,
