a former sailor already serving time for rape in norfolk is expected to learn his fate today for another attack. amin garcia has a scheduled sentencing today for assaulting and attempting to rape a former army officer at a camp in kuwait in 2010. he is currently serving a life sentence for raping two norfolk women in 2008. according to the u-s district attorney's office, garcia attacked his first victim, and then attacked the victim's daughter later that year. norfolk police worked with n-c-i-s to connect garcia to both crimes. now to new information about the fallout of a rolling stone article

alleged a gang rape at the university of virginia. the woman at the center of that now debunked article is expected to go to court. a u-s district judge order the woman, who is only identified as jackie in the article, to answers questions as part of a civil lawsuit. she's set to be deposed april 5th. according to newsweek, her court appearance is part of the on-going lawsuit, an associate dean at uva filed against rolling stone. nicole eramo is suing the magazine for defamation. she says the article depicted her as insensitve to claims that a student was sexually assaulted. now to new information about people in fiji who are trying to clean up after a deadly island nation. take a look at this video of the damage. the storm killed at least 18 people and left 80-precent of the country without power. meteorologists say its was one of the most in strong winds and torrential rains cut communications and water service. the government declared a 30-day state of emergency.

curfew in effect. the prime minister has ordered police and military to help with rescue operations. new this morning, tragic news out of michigan. investigators say a family of six died because of carbon monoxide poisoning. a relative discovered the bodies of a couple and their four children in fenton township, just outside of detroit. the relative went by the family's home after they couldn't reach them. investigators say the children ranged in age from two to 11 years matter how long, no matter how many investigations you conduct seeing young children, an entire family wiped out is just a very very sad thing." investigators say a generator was running on the lower level of their home after power outages friday night. amazingly no one was hurt in oklahoma after investigators say a natural gas explosion did this. it leveled one home, and damaged four others saturday afternoon. a real estate agent barely made it out in time. officials say he went to

labs can result in explosions and at its worst, the loss of life - this is why a officials want get their their safety message out to the community. in the past week, police have raided three different meth lab operations in newport news - two on middlesex road and the latest friday on sidney place. three people face felony charges in those busts. in today's session, fire officials say they won't discuss the specifics of the current cases, but instead will give us a look into how they respond to the busts and handle the hazardous materials. police in hampton say a possible meth lab bust last week is connected to those in newport news. wednesday we told you officers found items consistent with making meth on cynthia drive. investigators sent the substance away for testing. so far police have not made any arrests. sunday morning police in norfolk busted a meth lab. they say it started as a domestic situation. police say two men lived in the second floor apartment on west 27th street,

six people died. two others are still in critical condition. cnn reports a source told them the suspected shooter picked up and dropped off passengers in between shootings. the big question this morning, is why? police have not found a motive and believe the shootings were random. investigators do not believe there is a connection between dalton and the victims. saturday night's situation of a gunman on the loose led a man and his family to get an uber ride saturday. the man realized later his decision put him in the passenger seat right next to the accused killer. later this morning at portsmouth city hall. she worked in various positions across the state, including most recently as the deputy secretary of public safety and homeland security. today's ceremony is open to the public. it begins at 10:00 in council chambers on the sixth floor. apple is coming under fire from the f-b-i after the company refused to help decrypt the iphone of one of the san bernardino shooters. f-b-i director james comey says it owes it to the victims to gain access to the cellphone used by gunman syed farook. he said the agency cannot look the survivors in the eye or themselves in the mirror if it doesn't follow this lead. a judge in california ordered apple to help, but the tech company believes this comes down to a privacy issue. it does not want to create a backdoor to open the locked iphone that potentially could fall into the hands of criminals, putting all customers at risk. director comey says this case is not about setting a precedent for these types of actions. he says it's about finding justice for the victims.

about the fallout of a rolling stone article that alleged a gang rape at the university of virginia. the woman at the center of that now debunked article is expected to go to court. a u-s district judge order the woman, who is only identified as jackie in the article, to answers questions as part of a civil lawsuit. she's set to be deposed april 5th. according to newsweek, her court appearance is part of the on-going lawsuit, an associate dean at uva filed against rolling stone. nicole eramo is suing the magazine for defamation. she says the article depicted her as insensitve to claims that a student was sexually assaulted. now to new information about people in fiji who are trying to clean up after a deadly cyclone blew through the island nation. take a look at this video of the damage. the storm killed at least 18 people and left 80-precent of the country without power. meteorologists say its was one of the most powerful storms recorded in the southern hemisphere. strong winds and torrential rains cut communications and water

damaged four others saturday afternoon. a real estate agent barely made it out in time. officials say he went to check the sprinkler system, opened the garage door, smelled gas, and then turned to leave. fire officials say he made it five steps out before the home exploded! again, he is okay, and no one else was hurt. new this morning infections of h-p-v are down. researchers say it's evidence the vacine is working. the new study from the centers for disease control and prevention compared the h-p-v infection rate from before and after 2006. that's the year doctors began using the vaccine. health officials found there was a more than 60-percent drop in h-p-v rates among teen girls and a 34-percent decrease in women in their early 20's. while experts are happy with the numbers, they say fewer than half of teenage girls and 25-percent of boys have received full protection with all three doses of the vaccine. we continue to follow

today the uber driver accused of shooting and killing people in michigan is scheduled to be in court. police in kalamazoo say jason dalton shot at least eight people during a seven-hour shooting spree saturday. six people died. two others are still in critical condition. cnn reports a source told them the suspected shooter picked up and dropped off passengers in between shootings. the big question this morning, is why? police have not found a motive and believe the shootings were random. investigators do not believe there is a connection between dalton and the victims. saturday night's situation of a gunman on the loose led a man and his family to get an uber ride saturday. the man realized later his decision put him in the passenger seat right next to the accused killer.
