The Wayzata girls swimming and diving team achieved their team goal of making the top three and reaching the podium at the Class AA state meet on Saturday night. The Trojans finished second behind Edina.
The 200-medley relay team, made up of senior Emma Paulson, freshman Madison Preiss, senior Mackenzie Merriam and freshman Anna Petty broke the school record and got second at the meet with a time of 1:44.47.
Senior Emma Paulson was third in both the 50 freestyle (23.56) and 100 backstroke (56.36), and broke the school record in the 50 free with a time of :23.40.
Preiss broke two 20-year-old school records in the 200 IM with a time of 2:05.28 and in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:03.80. Sophomores Nicole and Brooke Fontaine were third (417.75 points) and fifth (368.20 points) in diving. Overall, Wayzata had all three relays in the top eight, and three divers in the top 10.
