This has got to be the best version of Windows (not exactly) ever. Some workplaces still uses Windows XP, which is kind of cool, and has many editions.

The Professional version is a most-used version of Windows XP, targeted for most workplaces, enterprises, etc.

The Home Edition (formerly known as Personal, during the time as Windows Whistler) is a slightly limited version of Windows XP, targeted for most gamers and homes, and is great for anywhere use if a laptop has Windows XP Home Edition.

Windows XP also has a version suitable for Tablet PCs (the one with a stylus or a pen), called Windows XP Tablet PC Edition, and a version for use in entertainment and TVs, called Windows XP Media Center Edition.

Windows XP is still in use in some PCs and laptops, and can be virtualized as of today.

Thank you for uploading the ISO of Windows XP with Service Pack 3. My XP CD (backed up ages and ages ago) has no SP 3 and every time I reinstalled it (in a virtual machine) it was frustrating to update it (I should have slipstreamed the updates or something, laziness on my part). Now, back to gaming in Windows XP (in a virtual machine). Old unsupported versions of Windows (like Windows XP) are better off without any internet access and installed in virtual machines. The scope for damage is much lesser (unless you really, REALLY know what you are doing and are aware of the dangers). Peace and out.

I was looking for the missing OS setup disc for the Recovery Console several months after my home computer received a Stop screen error for an unmountable boot volume, since April 25, 2022. It could be cured, but my family's got other plans such as getting rid of it just because it was completely outdated or no longer supported, and all my saved files are in the Guest account's folder, especially including the local disk drive itself (C:).

That drive can't be corrupted, and that's where I saved my entire font collection along with the original presets in its own directory. I'm still working it out, and I'm not going to give up so easily! ...Not quite!

I downloaded the iso to a Dell/Windows 10 laptop, created a completely bootable USB (Rufus), and though it was recognized in the BIOS of an Acer Aspire 5315, and after trying every configuration available I am still presented with 'No bootable device found', or 'Media device failure, check cable'. It had already 'found' the USB-HDD device, which was 1st in the boot order, and what cable is this message referring to? I'm ready to give up, and no one thus far has been able to offer a working solution. It's not the software, it's the Acer..

looking up a list of windows XP file hashes reveals that that file did not have a valid sha1 hash. The file has been modified (I'm not surprised lol).

For anyone else looking for windows XP x64, make sure to look up file hashes for windows XP cause it might be fake.

Lastly, yes. The copy provided (Windows XP Professional SP3 x86) is indeed legitimate. It's a volume license BTW.

He was referring to running Windows XP AS HOST (VirtualBox installed ON a PC running Windows XP) not as guest. As guest it runs as you mentioned. But since VirtualBox 6 is only instalable in 64bit OS's (the OS you install VirtualBox on, not the one running in the VM). Guests (the OS's in the VM's) can be 32 or 64bits.

@WifeHaver488 using VirtualBox 6.0 or newer will NOT work with 32-bit systems such as Win95 through Vista, like this copy of Win XP Pro, as they stripped out functionality with 32-bit OSes from VirtualBox 6.0 and above.
VirtualBox 5.2.44 is the newest version of VirtualBox with 32-bit OS support as needed for XP virtualisation.

If you are getting error during setup "Setup cannot find End User Licensing agreement, setup cannot continue."
DO NOT use Rufus, use WinSetupFromUSB. It takes some setting up to get proper. Look up a video on youtube for instructions and it should work great.

I install this windows, under the impression that it is a legitimate Microsoft installation. During the installation following message popped up:
"The application or DLL C:\Windows\system32\RDPCFGEX.DLL is not a valid windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette."

After installation, internet explorer would open only www.google.com and no other sites. No HTTPS site would open. Thinking about reformatting the disk and install someother OS.

BE CAREFUL WITH THIS ISO! I used this ISO to install the OS on my computer and I had my whole disk WIPPED OUT trying to CREATE A NEW PARTITION on the Setup screen. I don't believe it is a virus, it might be some sort of bug from this ISO, at least using the RMPrepUSB method. If you want to use this ISO, I recommend testing it on a virtual machine/disk first. If this bug doesn't happen to you, I recommend using the CD, as for this kind of OS it's more genuine and safier to install from the CD.

Microsoft shut down the Windows Update service for Windows 2000, XP, and Vista on August 3, 2020. This ISO has not been messed with and Windows Update won't work on any Windows XP installation.
