Felix takes a trip on a boat and ends up in the Netherlands! While there, he falls in love and tries to court a young lady, only to enrage the young man already after her. This cartoon contains lots of Dutch stereotypes (such as wooden shoes, windmills, etc.) as was common in many cartoons of the period. The following concise, informative description was taken from http://en.wikipedia.org: Flip the Frog was Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer's first sound cartoon. It is about a happy-go-lucky, needy frog, named Flip the Frog. This cartoon was created by Ub Iwerks in 1930. He had drawn a frog and his girlfriend in "Night'", one of the last Silly Symphonies short films he drew while working for Walt Disney. After leaving Disney, Ub Iwerks began the Flip cartoon series with the help of Pat Powers. The...

This is a banned Talespin cartoon from my collection of banned and censored cartoons. When a group of people work to ban a certain media then part of their heritage is lost as a result. Many types of media I do not agree with, but I do not complain to have it banned. Remember the Soviet Union. They had to basically relearn their own history by going back to books written before the revolution. England knew nothing about their greatest heroes until the French occupation.

This circa 1927 Felix the Cat cartoon was created as an advertisement for Edison Mazda Headlamps! It's actually a pretty good cartoon about Felix's troubles trying to marry his sweetheart. My guess at the year is based on something in the cartoon itself. A salesman checks a lists of parts for Felix's car. It turns out Felix is driving a '27 "Noiseless Six." This copy has public domain music and sound effects added.

Another Pat Sullivan Classic cartoon. Although he died in the 1930s. He will get credit for this character's creation although Messemer also said he created it first, but both are dead.

Another Felix the Cat silent cartoon with a fairly crude soundtrack added by distributor, Jacques Kopfstein. Candidate Felix promises the cats of earth a better life on Mars. (At least, that's how I decipher the plot!) It's stated on various websites that this cartoon was originally titled "Astromeows," probably a more sensible title, but I've never seen a print with that name. Perhaps that was the title of the silent version which got slightly scrambled when sound was added.

Gym Jam (Sparber, 1950): Another one of the better 1950s Popeyes. (Animators: Frank Endres, John Gentilella, William Henning, Tom Johnson, Jack Ozark) Peep in the Deep (Kneitel, 1946): Don't believe what you hear, Floyd Buckley voices Popeye on this one, NOT Jackson Beck. (Animators: William Henning, Ben Solomon, James Tyer) You're a Sap, Mr. Jap (Gordon, 1942): Famous Studios first start on the sailor, and what do I think of it? Ehh...
