A predatory reptile makes a cute pet when it's young, but can it be fun to eat from a can instead of catching food on the hoof? And what if the owner gives up trying to care properly for it? Only really well prepared people can take care of an adult exotic pet well enough to give it a pleasant life.

Capital Zoom is a seamless, cloudless, zoom-in starting from a global view zooming down to the nation's Capitol. It is composed entirely of real earth-observing satellite data. Included are IKONOS 1 meter data, Landsat7 15/30 meter data, Terra/MODIS 250 meter data, and Terra/MODIS 8 kilometer data. The visualization first zooms in seamlessly, then zooms out showing where the different data set layers reside. This vizualization was created using Maya for motion control, Renderman for rendering,...

Square Pictures' Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within defines the current state of the art in fully synthetic moviemaking. FF:TSWbreaks new ground by presenting a fully computer-rendered world populated not by insects, robots, or toys but by realistic humancharacters who can act and directly involve the audience. Ambitious use of new modeling and procedural animation methods,high-quality rendering, and new forms of special effects have been combined with traditional character animation and...

In the TV cartoon series, Zoids, made with the toon shader of SoftImage 3D, and 2D cel animations were blended without any oddness.First, each 3D CG model's basic actions (walking, running, jumping) were established, then using the ''animation sequencer'' function of SoftImage 3D, an autofilling ''motion blend'' was performed on the changing parts between the basic actions to produce many cuts. Then, RETAS! PRO and After Effects were used for the cel drawings combining 2D characters, hanging...

The title written in Chinese means the way to reach true knowledge. I tried to depict my own realization of the circle of life in this animation, the destined suffering since the birth, the paralyzed salvation after the death and the voidness of meaning. The only way to escape from the circle of life is to see it and to realize it, although the realization evaporates in a moment. I wanted to see it to show it. The Moving Pyramid is a charming animated short that tells the story of corruption, power and revolution. This short combines traditional, papercut and computer animation and was completed in two years using Softimage software. The making of the Moving Pyramid would not have been possible without the assistance of Industrial Light and Magic and all the animators and technical directors who volunteered their valuable time.

''Pasta for War'' satirizes a 1930's propaganda newsreel. It begins with fresh pasta marching towards the podium. There, the Great Dictator orates. A young recruit envisions formations of dive bombing bow-ties flying above columns of ravioli tanks, while he wades through marinara sauce to battle against utensils at the bottom of the sink. The realisation that he may die ends his fantasy, but his comrades march ever forward, to their impending doom - a towering pot of boiling water.

The Chinese government needed a public relations tool to promote this completely new major airport construction project to airline customersÆ worldwide. The Architectural staff created the 3D exterior shell in FormZ. This was passed to the animation staff to detail the interior using 3D Studio Max. A seven-minute video shows how a passenger would travel from curbside through the terminal to aircraft boarding and then arriving passengers going thru to the baggage area. The 3D model was created...

Conceived as a critique of traditional architectural ''flythroughs'' and perhaps a glimpse into the future of online environments, this short film documents the investigation of an abandoned house from multiple points of view. The ''handheld'' camera movement was accomplished through four layers of motion capture data via the mouse. The house was designed and modeled in form-Z, animation in 3ds max, and rendering in mental ray. AfterEffects and Combustion were used for compositing and graphics.

This is our first film to ever be on the internet. It has been created for the www.BrickFilms.com words of wisdom contest. It is about a basketball team, which is losing by 30 points in the final quarter of the 2003 NBA championship game, is just about ready to give up, when their coach gives them a very motivating speech.

This movie was inspired by a comic book that we had written about 3 years ago. We found it when cleaning out the good old basement closet. We thought it would make a good internet show. So here we are making one of the first internet brick shows. New York City, a vast, action packed city filled with villians and superheroes. But what do the superheroes do if they get sick, injured, or want to go on vacation? They call the Temp! The Temp is the best superhero replacement in all of the world.

This is the first chapter of Sir Galahads quest to seek the Holy Grail. It is a story that deals with the leaving of earthly loves behind in favour of the Eternal, and it is of epic proportions, featuring groundbreaking special effects, a rousing musical score, and is yet made with less than fifty bricks of lego, compared to most other big budget Brickmation spectacles which might use hundreds. The film title Nicht alle Blütenträume reifen can be put down to Prometheus, a poem by Johann Wolfgang Goethe, one of the most important German authors of all times (1749-1832). This locution is a poetic paraphrase for the cognition that not everything you aspire to, can be achieved and an euphemism for the unsuccessful endeavours of an infested and homogenized skeleton-biker-punk-freak-mutation-zombie (whose name and affiliation wont be revealed here and in the film yet) to find something to...

I worked on this brickfilm for about 14 months, due to a lack of time. It's about a thief getting into a base, stealing a weapon and then getting followed by another guy. The story is pointless, but I think I managed to make the crazy chase (that's why the movie is called Crase) funny. I am especially proud of the sound effects, most of them are done "by hand". I know that the lighting is bad, but I improved on the other sections like animating, editing and sound a lot. I'd really...

This is a quick movie for a "Lego Awards" competition. It was entered in best drama and won. It is a film about the jewish oppresion, not a documentary though. It was inspired by "schindler's list", and has only music, no voices. Hope you like it.

This is the beginning of a very big adventure. When it is completed it will be almost two hours long. This first part introduces the two main characters; the Prince and the Archer (or jousimiäs). The Prince`s father gives him a mission to kill a Monster and claim the Sword of Light... All reviews (good or bad) are most welcome.
