The original, black and white Fleischer Screen Songs ended in 1938 and the sing-along idea remained mostly dormant until they where begun anew under the auspices of Famous Studios in December of 1947. But during that almost ten year period, a few "proto-Screen Songs" were released reviving and refining the formula. Among these was "Old MacDonald Had A Farm," officially a Noveltoon. I think it has all of the elements of a "Screen Song," except for the ear worm...

Bobby Bumps was the titular character of a series of silent animated short subjects produced by Bray Productions from 1915-25. Inspired by R. F. Outcault's Buster Brown, Bobby Bumps was a little boy who, accompanied by his dog Fido, regularly found himself in and out of mischief. The series was created by Earl Hurd, who directed and/or animated most of the entries in the series until he left the Bray studios in 1918. The Bobby Bumps cartoons were the first to be produced using the cel animation...

Betty's Second apperance. (1930) Her voice is provided by Margie Hines. Betty goes by the name of Nancy Lee. As Nancy she's rather freakish in the marionette way she moves her legs & when she screws up her face she's horridly ugly. Had there been a "progression" of a primitive Betty to the Betty we are happiest to know & love.

Betty Boop in Boop Oop a Doop (1932). voice by Little Ann Little or either Margie Hines who knows they all sound alike, the typical Helen Kane impersonation. Betty's a circus headliner in Boop-oop-a-doop. Betty can be seen on horseback. Betty then star's as a liontamer & a highwire walker. Upon the highwire, Betty sings a jazz number, "Do Something, Boop-oop-a-doop," which had been a hit song for Helen Kane in 1929; Betty, of course, was based on flapper ragtime singer Helen Kane.

Jack and the beanstalk (1931). voice by Ann rothschild aka Little ann little. Betty gets top billing in Jack & the Beanstalk because she was the bigger star by the latter part of 1931, but second-billed Bimbo plays the title role & has the larger amount of screen time. Bimbo has reverted to the un-cute white-faced Bimbo in this one. Betty still has doggy ears.

The character wears a Bonnet and is going to catch the Train to Rudy Valley, Confusing Actor Rudy Vallée with an actual valley. Kitty also goes on a binge eating spree and becomes some sort of whale-like mermaid thing.
