Anyone remember the crazy police presence in the area down there. Found out after they were looking for those beltway snipers that were shooting a bunch of random people. My first time seeing this band. Good times....

Hard to say anything that hasn't been said, there's a great reason this show has the reputation it does. Probably the best aud recording I've ever heard. A multitracked SBD exists though I actually sometimes find myself preferring this aud.
While Astronaut usually gets the most chatter from this show (for a very good reason), I personally think this show also features the best-ever AC2B, barber plays this amazing rhythmic guitar lead that just pulls you and magner compliments it perfectly.

These two nights were my first encounters with the biscuits and I was hooked from there on. It's debatable which night is better but it's 1 and 1 a. regardless, the whole show runs together so well from begining to end. Seriously a must for any fan. The best Shem, Mitts, RLH, it's truly EPIC!

This is one of the best live shows I've heard, Bisco or otherwise.
First of all the sound quality of this recording is fantastic.
Secondly, the band is tight!!! Magner & Sammy are on top of it, Magner is as much percussion as melody. Barber and Brownstein aren't exactly slacking either.
This show is a must.

This weekend does deserve a listen for those unfarmiliar; representing some very tight woven and thought out playing. This is what a true sweet-spot recording coupled with nasty gear and a great show translates into. Many thanks

First of all... best show ever, if not at least top 5. Rediculously dirty Astronaut. Every transisition within songs and in between songs is perfect. The Very Moon house jam starting about 13 min in is on of my favorite things the biscuits have ever done, but thats my taste in dance music. If only 2.0 was nearly this on point.

Subject: Whole Lotta Hay Pt. II
Great song placement, mind-numbing segues, and overall other level playing make 10/5/02 "what it is", G. Obviously, one of the best Biscuits shows ever -- if not concerts period.
Hot Air Balloon in a word is majestic. By far one of my all time favorite versions, easily one of the best ever played. Listen close as Barber insinuates the impending madness that is Astronaut (roughly 13 mins in). So chill. Astronaut is absolutely obsene. Just so far out and laced with creativity -- sometimes it makes me want to cry, but thats beside the point. Well not really. Whatever. I'm not a huge Bernstein & Chasnoff fan, this redering however is the exception. Very fluid, engaging version with great direction -- it drops into AC2B with alarming resound. Just as everything else in this set I'd quantify AC2B as well above average, if not one of the best ever played.
Set 2 brings the heat immediately with Robots. Great version. Definately a standout version, if not the best ever played. Sit tight because what comes next is easily one of the all time great sequences in tDB history. Very Moon>Helicoptors>Very Moon>Shem Ra>Helix is "all lat and a bowl of gravy". Simply scintillating stuff, downright dementedly good stuff. Kitchen Mitts comes next and seems like the likley set and show closer. It not because the fun don't stop. Run Like Hell makes perfect sense at this point. Flawless, improv jamming (intro especially) one last time. The perfect end to THE perfect show.
In the end, an exhibition in unqualified cohesion articulates 10/5/02 best. It will forever live in infamy, and remain the measuring stick for me. It's all that and then some. And then some.

there is not one flaw throughout this entire show as the disco biscuits take you through a late night, early morning journey through what we all know as bisco...The band members seem to be on the same superior level this night and the night previous. Take it for what its worth...this was the number1 voted show in terms of biscuits

This show is absolutely ridiculous. Starts off with a solid HAB > the best astronaut ever. B&C is very mellow, yet entertaining. ac2b is hot.
the 2nd set is my favorite set of music by any band ever. its just unbelievable.
i could write for an hour and not express the true glory that is 10.5.02

Is anything the perfect Bisco show? Does should a thing even exsist. Does it matter? This show jams it out hard and above all -- good.
The opening of Hot Air Balloon-->Astronuat is worth the download...but then you hear Set II, Aceetobee-->Helicopters and your mind is blow. I was driving home listening to that for the first time and took a longer route to hear the whole part. The sound is what you'd expect. Nothing stood out in that regard. The Biscuits open up saying it will be the stortest set break ever...they make the most of their minutes on stage.
adios

We Biscuits crazies really took over this unsuspecting hippie festival and made it our own. tDB "owned" the late night and there is no better example of that, to me, than the Shem-Rah Boo -> Helicopters from the second set of this night. That sequence is the darkest, yet strangely uplifting, dance music I have ever heard. I've memorized it note for note and it still never gets stale... no matter how many times I listen to it.
Other highlights include maybe the best version of Astronaut to date, a jaw-dropping HOUSE infused Very Moon jam, and a gorgeously reflective cover of Pink Floyd's Run Like Hell.
Haymaker has it all!

for me at least. guaranteed to make your top 5. the combination of musicality and sound quality makes these discs legendary.
the entire first set, that is, all four songs, are great, but nothing compares to this astronaut. it is the version to which all others compare. it is on another level of bisco jamming. it's dark, twisted, evil, pulsating. there is not one note played that doesn't belong, and every moment is a demonstration of full group improvisation, never of solo virtuosity.
the save the robots here is a fantastic version. the first ever "first jam" for this song is a great dropbeat. however, it's all about the next segement of the show. at about 14 minutes into the very moon, the jam takes off. it turns on a dime and wonderfully segues into helicopters. the back and forth, major/minor jamming as the song heads back to the very moon is unbelieveable, and the moment it drops back into the very moon riff is possibly the most glorious segueway. the jam out of shem picks up a great melodic line and takes off with it. kitchen mitts, well, we needed a breather. and the concise run like hell combines a little bit of everything that was great about that weekend into a quick 12 minutes.

I love this show and I'm so glad to get an audience source for this the problems with the vocals on the multi-track version detracts from the overall brilliance of this show.
