Derry Public Library

The Derry Public Library first opened in 1905 in the Adams Memorial Building when a local benefactor, Rosecrans Pillsbury, gave $1,000 to the town.This library would be the first available library for the shoe factory workers in West Derry. The first librarian was Reverend William Gaskin, followed just six months later by his daughter, Elsie Gaskin, who held the position for 30+ years. In 1927, Henry F. MacGregor left stipulations in his will for his wife to buy land in his hometown of Derry to ...
