Lehigh Valley LGBT Organizations 1960s to 1980s

This collection documents the earliest known organizational history of the LGBTQ+ community in Pennsylvania’s Lehigh Valley region. Organizations represented include the Lehigh Valley Homophile Organization (“Le-Hi-Ho”), the Lambda Center, the Pennsylvania Lesbian/Gay Support Network, and Citizens Concerned for a Better Community (CCBC). Materials include newsletters, meeting minutes, press releases, and promotional materials.

The “Lambda Valley Monthly” (1985-1988) was a continuation of the “Le-Hi-Ho Newsletter” (1969-1985). The “Lambda Valley Monthly” (1985-1988) was a continuation of the “Le-Hi-Ho Newsletter” (1969-1985). The title change coincided with the foundation of the Lambda Center, a community center for gays and lesbians located on Hamilton Street in Allentown, PA.
