The turtle genera Chelydra (Recent, North America), Macroclemys (Recent, North America), Platysternon (Recent, Asia), Protochelydra (Paleocene, North America), and Macrocephalochelys (Pliocene, Asia) are hypothesized as a strictly monophyletic group on the basis of a shared derived character study of the skull. The five genera are therefore placed in the Family Chelydridae. The primary characters used involved the degree of temporal and cheek emargination along with changes in bone size and...

The systematic revision of the genus Nothosaurus from the Germanic Triassic (Muschelkalk, lower and middle Keuper) results in the recognition of five valid species. These are N. edingerae, N. giganteus, N. juvenilis, N. marchicus, and the genotypical species, N. mirabilis. The holotype of Conchiosaurus clavatus from the base of the middle Muschelkalk is unequivocal evidence of the synonymy of Conchiosaurus with Nothosaurus. Since Conchiosaurus has priority, it must be declared a nomen oblitum...

The collections of the Field Museum of Natural History contain 234 ethnographic objects collected among the Copper Inuit of the Northwest Territories, Canada, in 1919-1921 by Harold Noice. The artifacts in this collection are described and illustrated. For comparative purposes, information is included from previous studies of Copper Inuit material culture, notably those of Stefansson (1914), Birket-Smith (1945), and Jenness (1946)

This paper describes and illustrates an unusually large collection of Killke and Killke-related pottery vessels from the Field Museum of Natural History, Chicago. As the immediate antecedent to classic Inca pottery, Killke pottery holds a unique and important position in th cultural history of the Cuzco area. An adequate definition of this style is essential for constructing and testing models of early Inca state development. This paper will: 1) provide a summary of previous research on Killke...
