The BHL Field Notes Project is a collaborative project funded by the Council on Library and Information Resources (CLIR). It provides open access to field notes from institutions throughout the United States.

Building on the work of the Smithsonian Field Book Project, the BHL Field Notes Project aims not only to provide general access to this material, but to reunite fragmented collections through institutional collaboration. Doing so will provide a more complete picture of the expeditions, discoveries, and collections the scientists and institutions were a part of.
