"First Spaceship on Venus" (1962) is the shortened and dubbed American version of "The Silent Star," an East German/Polish production from 1960, based on a novel by Stanislau Lem. The film was released theatrically as the co-feature on a double-bill with the extensively re-edited and dubbed Japanese kaiju film, "Varan the Unbelivable," by Crown International Pictures. This version is in 2:35 Totalvision.

Second best version
Obviously the definitive edition would be the original full lengh German Der Schweigende Stern with burnt in subtitles, but this is a more than adequate substitute and much better than the fuzzy panned and scanned versions that proliferate here and elsewhere. Many thanks
