Hilliard has a Heart for Service, and we encourage the community to join us in volunteering in honor of Dr. King’s legacy at the Hilliard Community/Senior Center from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday, Jan. 17.
For just $10, you can buy a bowl, handmade by Hilliard City School District students, filled with soup (along with sandwich and a dessert) made by the Kiwanis Club of Hilliard. All proceeds will be donated to the Hilliard Food Pantry to help the Fight Against Hunger in our community!
Then, connect with local non-profit agencies at the Volunteer Fair, and make a commitment to serve your community in 2022! Share your dream on our handprint wall, create art at the Hilliard Arts Council’s pop-up art table, take some time to reflect on the Peace Walk around Roger A. Reynolds Municipal Park, put a piece of the MLK puzzle together, watch a film, enjoy the DJ, and balloon twister, and much more!
The Heart for Service and Volunteer Fair is the first MLK Day celebration of its kind in Hilliard. In December 2020, Hilliard City Council voted to officially recognize Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day as a City holiday. In addition to the volunteer fair, all City buildings will close on Monday, Jan. 17 to honor Dr. King.
