We're celebrating our 15th roundabout in 15 years, just in time for #RoundaboutsWeek.
The City opened its first roundabout in 2006 at the intersection of Hayden Run Road and Britton Parkway. Last month, Hilliard's newest roundabout was completed at Scioto Darby Road & Walcutt Road, with tremendous positive feedback from the community regarding better traffic flow and a decrease in backups.
Simply put, roundabouts save lives.
They're a safer intersection solution because slower vehicle speeds greatly reduce the chance of a fatal or serious injury crash.
Throughout the 15-year history of roundabouts in Hilliard, the Norwich Township Fire Department has never had to extricate a motorist from a car using the βJaws of Lifeβ at a roundabout crash.
