Jewelers' Circular, the first jewelry trade magazine, was founded in 1870. It had 4 roots: 1) the American Horological Journal, founded in 1869 and later merged with The Jewelers' Circular. 2) The Jewelers' Weekly, founded in 1885 and 3) The Jewelers' Review, founded in 1887. 4) The Keystone was established as a house organ in 1881.--Jewelers' Circular-Keystone, January 1935, p. 41.
Name of publisher varies: Robert W. Robins (1887-1888) -- S. H. Steele (1893-1894) -- B. Thorpe (1896-1905).
Subtitles vary: A monthly journal for the jewelry trade (1887) -- In the interest of the jewelry trade (1887-1888) -- The organ of the retail jewelry trade (1893, 1894) -- The organ of the jewelry and optical trades (1896-1898).
