The Liverpool Public Library has served the community of Liverpool, New York since 1893. The Library produces a local history video series called Liverpool Legends. These videos feature long-time residents of Liverpool, New York and the surrounding area. Discover, learn and grow with the stories and recollections of the events that have shaped our community.

Tony Drago: After moving in, he was hired to work in sales office, was paid $40 for each prospective buyer he brought in. Felt very safe in Bayberry community. Nancy Danzer: Remembers Dairy Lee milk delivery; in summer, vegetable man, knife sharpener came door-to-door, a real country atmosphere. Phil Curry: Good Humor, Byrne Dairy deliveries. The original road was Buckley Road, but because there were  duplicate house numbers the portion that went through Bayberry was renamed Blackberry Road....

 Nancy Danzer: When first moved in had a manicured lawn.  Friendly’s and other businesses are there now.  Sally Drago: Third person to buy a home. Port Leyden Garden   Father was working on a road, used his truck in a quarry hauling stone, was hard on his truck Glenn put in a garden behind the house to grow vegetables Had a dirt basement, would bury the potatoes and vegetables in the basement, and eat them during the winter Dads truck wore out, replaced it with an even older Republic truck, began hauling pulp wood; was paid $5.00 per load, half the male population was out of work, tough times. Returning to East Syracuse in a Blizzard   Late fall, load up the tents to return to Syracuse Caught in a big snowstorm, that as far as Theresa, family took them in for the night Next morning they continued to East Syracuse There was no work, Grandma and Grandpa Watson took them in, the winter of 1931, kids slept in the living room Grandpa had a good job as a railroad conductor, but caring for eight people was a challenge. Impact of Depression   life was good in the twenties, but the thirties were hard Left the Zogg school, finished fifth grade in Edwardsville, one room schoolhouse Dad took old dump truck after the three new ones were repossessed, and helped build a Causeway across Black Lake Lived in a summer camp, when it got cold would ice skate to school There were a lot of frogs around the camp in the springtime, they would stun the frogs with paddles, they made for good eating (2:09) www.lpl.org
