The catalogs show the evolution of the institution's curriculum, reuirements, staff, and facilities from its founding as the Mass. Normal Art School in 1873.; As Mass. College of Art, the school broadened its focus from training art teachers to also training artists and designers, courses became more specialized, programs became longer, and degrees began to be offered. The catalogs contain a mission statement, a statement of purpose, and academic calendar, location information, admission requirements and conditions, information on tuition and financial aid, academic policies, program descriptions and requirements for completion, course listings and descriptions, lists of administrators, faculty, trustees, and members of the state board overseeing public higher education, and an application for admission.; The 1913 Catalog contains lists of positions filled by graduates and past pupils of the institution. Many later catalogs contain photographs of students and students' work.
