Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, Eugene L. Freel Library

Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts is located in northwestern Massachusetts and is the public liberal arts college of the state university system. The Eugene L. Freel Library Special Collections includes both the college archives and the Hoosac Valley Collection for Local History. Funding in support of the preservation of and access to the materials in these collections is provided in part by the Hardman Library Grant.

The Sprague Electric Company moved to North Adams in 1930 and for a time was the largest single employer in the city. At its peak, Sprague Electric employed over 12,000 people worldwide, including over 4,000 at its North Adams facilities.
