Description

You're a stranded space jockey in a rugged frontier settlement on Saturn's moon, Titan. Your one chance to get off this ice cube is to assemble a team and find... a lost city!

This early Westwood title is a turn-based RPG set on the surface of Mars. Your characters have attributes and 21 skills that can be raised during the course of the game. You gather your party throughout the game. Much of the game is viewed from a first-person perspective with a small top down map and status line, but combat is all top-down. Combat can be handled directly by the player or left to the AI.

Subject: Mars Saga vs Mines of Titan

This appears to the 1989 release of Mines of Titan released by Infocom that takes place on Titan, one of Mars moons. It uses a Document check for copy protection.
Mars Saga was released by Electronic Arts only on the Commodore 64 & Apple systems in 1988 & used a Code Wheel for copy protection & took place on Mars.
Both were developed by Westwood Associates
and Mines of Titan was a more complete/refined release of what Westwood intended Mars Saga to be.
Mars Saga was changed & renamed to Mines of Titan so as not to be confused with the earlier release.
Mars Saga was the first project that Westwood worked on of their own
