This review protocol aims to investigate systematically the literature on the overall strengthening effect of non-vital teeth restored with the placement of dental posts transfixed horizontally at the crown. This restorative technique will be compared with traditional protocols using direct resin composites, indirect resin composites, indirect ceramics or the conventional technique that places the post into the root canal system.

Obesity is one of the popular health conditions for the people in modern society. It is related with lack of activities by development of technology as well as overconsumption of food intake.(1) Obesity is not just considered as overweight state because it can cause many other lethal diseases such as cardiovascular disease (2) and cancer.(3) Many interventions have been tried to treat obesity. The first-line therapy is diet control and exercise. Many types of diet for reducing weight have been...

Face attractiveness is a composite of multiple factors. While face-intrinsic factors such as symmetry and averageness influence face attractiveness, there are also non-facial determinants (e.g., Kniffin and Wilson, 2004; Saegusa, Intoy, & Shimojo, 2015). In this study I examine the effects of clothings and perceived personality on subjective ratings of face attractiveness. Paunonen (2006) demonstrated that facial attractiveness ratings were higher for a person with honest personality. His...

Cigarette smoking poses a major threat to public health, contributing to more than 6 million annual preventable deaths worldwide (Reitsma et al., 2017). With the recent advances of technology, a range of digital interventions for smoking cessation have been developed (for a review see Graham et al., 2016). Chatbots – for example - can serve as highly accessible and cost-efficient tools with the potential to facilitate personalized interactions. Despite the advantages of small barriers for...

For a detailed description of the study, please see our published study protocol (Schick et al., 2021). This preregistration includes the Statistical Analysis Plan (see sections 21-25) for this exploratory randomized controlled trial, which must be read and considered in conjunction with the published study protocol (Schick et al., 2021). Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) represents a public health emergency of global magnitude with the resultant mortality rate projected at 10 million fatalities by 2050 (Lim et al., 2019). The cost of treating resistant microorganisms has also significantly risen with evidence from the United States revealing a twofold increase between 2002 and 2015 (Thorpe, Joski, & Johnston, 2018). According to the World Health Organization, antimicrobial resistance is a preventable consequence of...

Unidimensionality is fundamental to psychometrics. In the last decade, network analysis in psychology has skyrocketed in popularity. Dimensionality assessment has been a strong focus of network psychometrics yet unidimensionality assessment remains a challenge. Community detection algorithms are the most common approach to estimating dimensionality in networks. Most of these algorithms optimize an objective function called modularity. A limitation of modularity is that it penalizes...

The authors propose that there is a negative psychological effect of wearing face masks. Specifically, the authors propose that when people (i.e., observers) look at another person (i.e., wearers) who is wearing a mask (vs. not wearing a mask), the observer would perceive the wearer negatively. In the proposed study, the authors intend to show and demonstrate the proposed psychological effect of wearing masks.

Paunonen (2006) demonstrated that face attractiveness ratings were higher for a person with honest personality. However, this effect may be attributable to negative mood elicited by reading a description of honest/dishonest behaviors rather than the perception of honesty/dishonesty per se. My previous project (Title: Face attractiveness and perceived honesty, https://doi.org/10.17605/OSF.IO/PJHKX ) tried to test this hypothesis, but the result was ambiguous. Here a new experiment is planned to...

Psychology, neuroscience and other disciplines have attempted to understand the mechanisms of mindfulness, but a comprehensive mechanistic model is currently lacking. This study will be the first to apply a multi-level and interdisciplinary framework (INSPIRER) that integrates several purported mechanisms of mindfulness effectiveness and these mechanisms are thought to interact. The model will be tested by assessing the effects of stress on psychological and health functioning, on the brain and...

Recent events have highlighted systemic inequities in libraries and beyond; the authors therefore determined the need for a review to be undertaken to get a true picture of diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts in librarianship. This review’s focus is on diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts in health and medical libraries inclusive of all library workers; library workers are defined as any employee or volunteer over whom library management exercises recruitment and retention...

In this registration we specify our plan for studying the brain networks behind individual differences in mindfulness. We plan to use connectome predictive modelling to identify brain connections correlating with differences in trait mindfulness in one dataset, and then use the model to predict differences in the second dataset. This work could shine light on connections correlating with mindfulness across the whole brain.

Authoritative parenting has been suggested to create more adjustable, satisfied, and academically successful children (Gao et al., 2021). This study investigates rates of redundant adjective and noun use in BCS (Bosnian, Croatian, Montenegrin, Serbian, Serbo-Croatian). In particular, we ask whether redundancy, which has previously been investigated cross-linguistically only with an eye towards whether a language has pre- or post-nominal adjectives, is modulated by morpho-syntactic gender of the nouns that can be faithfully used to refer to objects in a scene. Depending on whether the gender of target and distractor objects...

Bowlby believes that parent-child attachment can also affect the attachment relationship formed in the subsequent development of an individual. As the family is the first place for children to socialize, parents should play a good role as a social role...

The notion that individuals differ in their characteristic levels of mindfulness is an explicit assumption of so-called “trait” mindfulness measures and is implied by mindfulness-based interventions that seek to increase mindfulness. However, surprisingly little research to date has drawn from personality psychology to carefully articulate a trait account of mindfulness. A key challenge in audience experience research is being able to measure and understand audience immersion: the moments when audiences become fully captivated by an artistic experience. Beyond entertainment, the experience of immersion, or cognitive absorption, is critical to domains such as learning and memory, performance, persuasion. There is evidence to suggest that there are observable markers of immersion, among which are changes in audience motion (e.g., Theodorou & Healey, 2017) and...

Heart rate variability (HRV), which represents the change in the time intervals between adjacent heartbeats (Berntson et al. 1997; Camm et al. 1996; Akselrod et al. 1981), has seen growing application in sport and exercise psychology (SEP) over a number of years for many reasons. Firstly, it is a psychophysiological phenomenon that can reflect wellbeing, self-regulation and health (Thayer, Hansen, Saus-Rose & Johnsen, 2009), which is of interest to SEP. Secondly, HRV is a non-invasive,...
