American Journal of Epidemiology (AJE) is an active peer-reviewed academic journal published monthly by Oxford University Press on behalf of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and the Society for Epidemiologic Research. Launched in 1920 as the American Journal of Hygiene, it acquired its current name in 1965 and publishes the latest epidemiologic research and developments.
Each issue features original articles detailing empirical research findings and current methodological advances in the field, together with papers dealing with the practical application of epidemiologic or statistical methods. It also contains commentary, opinion pieces, and in-depth reviews and analyses of interest to both epidemiologists and those who use epidemiologic data, including public health workers and clinicians. Occasional special-focus issues and articles are dedicated to a particular research area or contain abstracts from proceedings of relevant conferences, symposia and meetings.
