The Arts in Psychotherapy is an active peer-reviewed scientific journal covering innovative research in artistic inquiry and expression and its use in the treatment of mental disorders. It was established in 1973 as Art Psychotherapy, and is published five times annually by Elsevier.
The journal publishes articles that aim to explore and engage theoretical concepts with the rigour of professional practice, presenting new and emergent knowledge about the role of the arts in healthcare and providing a forum for a critical discourse relevant to an international readership that can inform the development and the refinement of health services. Contributions are made from a breadth of researchers and practitioners in various fields of art, including dance, drama, music, and poetry psychotherapy, as well as expressive and creative arts therapy, neuroscience, psychiatry, education, allied health, and psychology.
The Internet Archive Collection contains microfilm published between 1986 and 2012.
