Coal Age is an active trade journal currently published 10 times a year by Mining Media. Launched in 1988 as Coal, through the merger of Coal Age and Coal Mining (with volume numbering continuing from the latter), it acquired its current name in 1996 and publishes news and information for professionals in the coal mining and processing industries.

Each issue features original articles on the latest technology and operational techniques to improve efficiency, along with updates on safety conditions and labor practices as well as policy changes that affect the industry. It also contains relevant national and international news pieces, profiles of leading experts and professionals in the field, supplier updates, and information on industry events.

The Internet Archive Collection contains microfilm published between 1988 and 2015.
