DESCRIPTION

Science is an active peer-reviewed scholarly journal published weekly by the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). Founded in 1880 by New York journalist John Michels, with financial support from American inventor Thomas Edison (1847–1931) and later from Scottish-born inventor, scientist and engineer Alexander Graham Bell (1847–1922), it publishes scientific news, commentary, and cutting-edge research.

Each issue features original articles focused on important issues related to the advancement of science, as well as editorials, news and comment, and book reviews. During its tenure, the journal has published significant articles, including papers on fruit fly genetics by Thomas Hunt Morgan, gravitational lensing by Albert Einstein, and spiral nebulae by Edwin Hubble. It also published the entire human genome for the first time, never-before seen images of the Martian surface, and the first studies tying AIDS to human immunodeficiency virus.

The Internet Archive Collection contains microfilm published between 1883 and 2016.
