This is a reproduction of a collection of documents that were produced at the end of the Second World War. Each unit in First Canadian Army was required to write a short history of the unit before it was disbanded or returned to Canada. The history was usually based on the unit war diary. The accounts of the units of the Royal Canadian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (RCEME) were compiled into this document. The original is in the Directorate of History and Heritage in Ottawa and is a poor quality photocopy. It was transcribed and slightly edited for a modern audience (such as removal of contemporary abbreviations). The original also did not include all the units in the Corps of RCEME. Later, other unit histories were found and added to the transcribed document. This is version 3.1, which also includes a list of affiliations with combat arms units that RCEME supported. It should probably be read in conjunction with “A History of RCEME to 1946” by Colonel R.H. Hodgson.
