A simplistic, rather uneven little film. A reporter, arriving at the scene of a murder, sees a man flee. He writes up the story and gets a big promotion but is responsible for sending that man to prison. The young man swears he is innocent, and the reporter begins to have feelings of doubt and nightmares. The reporter's fianceé investigates and helps soves the case.
Lots of good ideas here, but 60 min. is too short a time to develop them propery. The female lead is very good, the character actors are cute, Peter Lorre hams it up and there are some funny bits too . Not too bad.

quiet the perfect noir
I loved the McGuire's internal dialogue and Peter Lorre is the best. The nightmare scene (well done) where man meets conscience and must decide.
Why I love Film Noir.
There were insightful messages about our legal system (corruption) and reasonable doubt; and the value of one man's life.
What a great ending!!! Highly recommend!
