In The Ant and the Aardvark, a hungry Aardvark was consistently foiled in his attempts to make a meal of an Ant. It is hard to imagine how he stayed so plump, considering he expended more calories chasing the six-legged snack than he would ever gained from eating it. As if trying to outwit his tiny foe was not bad enough, the Aardvark at times had to contend with larger and more ferocious creatures who, for various reasons, sided with the ant.
It was never revealed whether the Aardvark faced the same ant in each episode (considering he often encountered ants in groups) or merely contended with various ants who all happened to speak with the same voice. Regardless, he never had success in capturing any of them.
The cartoons in this series were released as theatrical shorts beginning in 1960, but after only a year began airing on television as a segment on The Pink Panther Meets The Ant and the Aardvark, which was renamed The New Pink Panther Show in its second season. The Ant and the Aardvark continued to be a staple of the cartoon block, The Pink Panther Laugh and a Half-Hour and a Half.

John Byner lends his unique vocal talents to this classic 1969 series of entertaining cartoons. Terrific animation and soundtrack add to the enjoyment.
