Subject: Forget it. Thought it might be a good idea, but no!

I tried to download this at least 10 times and despite having superfast and stable broadband it either gave me 12 hours to download, or an hour, but would then stop and "complete" at about 10% through - on the better ones!

Perhaps if I tried it every 6 hours I might finally get a time when the server can cope with the traffic. But who has that time and patience?

I've given up; I'll just buy it instead.

I have listened to this amazing production several times, and love it. I have actually listened to several different versions, and have found that this is the best & most complete recording available. Beautifully dramatized & orchestrated. The perfect addition to any LOTR collection.

So folks will know ... there are TWO releases of this terrific (and MUCH better than the Jackson films) adaptation of Tolkien's Lord of the Rings (I know because I own both). The first release followed the original broadcast. A second release that coincided with the Jackson films that was modified to include introductory monologues by Frodo as if he was remembering the tale. These new monologues were written by Brian Sibley, one of the two original adapters and are voiced by Ian Holm (who played Frodo in the BBC production, and Bilbo in the Jackson films). This is the second release.

I opened the torrent file in an hex editor to make sure, and these files do not appear in it.

I never dreamed I'd see this set here, in FLAC no less. I listened to this series on NPR, narrated by Tammy Grimes, when it first came out. I was a student so I missed many episodes. I later bought the CD set and was finally able to listen to the whole series. My wife, who was unfamiliar with the books, loved it and later read the trilogy. This is the definitive dramatization of the trilogy, barring none. Unlike the 'Hollywoodized' movies, it is virtually 100% faithful to the books and includes the songs AND the all-important ‘The Scouring of the Shire’ chapter from the books––Tolkien: "…It is an essential part of the plot, foreseen from the outset…", and Saruman does not commit suicide. Thank you sharing for this splendid edition in its entirety.

This is pristine quality, including introductory parts not available on many releases, along with the bonus disc of original music from the BBC presentation. Truly well done—the best version of the BBC LoTR 1981 dramatization available on archive, with no compression artifact.
