Simplified, but pretty detailed model of the German field howitzer "Feldhaubitze 70", short name "FH-70".
Built in the late 1970's, it was a superb and precise field howitzer, towed by a 7 to truck. But it was a field howitzer, so there was no protection for the crew and - in winter .... brrr!
To determine the exact scale, be aware that the howitzer used to be 2,59 m wide when in self-driving mode. Lots of support structures, but it is the only way to print it due to the fine construction.
It turned out to be better to print the model larger (e.g. 1:35), the details get too tiny when you print it too small.
There are two versions: firing and self-driving mode. In firing position, the howitzer has its barrel showing into firing direction, the sights mounted, the gun carriage lowered to the base plate and the small wheels turned up. In self-driving mode, the gun is showing backwards, the sights are dismounted, legs spread, the carriage is lifted and the small wheels are turned down. So it is like in real life, being a hell of an effort to train soldiers on this damn thing!
