If these guys don't make you get up and shake your bones......you may very well be dead. Great recording of one of the most innovative groups to come down the pike in years.
**The reviewer below this needs some reading comprehension classes. The reference is obviously to the group Tinarawin, not the Krewe and they are indeed from the Sahara and noteworthy in their own right.

this is wrong and correct. while they certainly draw inspiration and influence from mali, they are from asheville, nc. they studied their music in mali. anyway, i saw them again last night here in asheville and they blew my mind again. everyone i have made come along with me to their shows has been amazed by them, and later told me they are so glad i made them come.

Amazing!Astonishing!Absolutely Fabulous. I was awe inspired when I first heard them thru my internet search for world music & immediately bought the cd. Since then I have seen them perform twice & plan on seeing them again March 18th. They are awesome live, the studio doesn't capture the full effect of the toubab Krewe experience. They are truely innovative & orginal & I highly anticipate their next cd

I checked them out solely on the basis that I know they open sometimes for STS9. I was pleased to find they had a style all thier own. Recently, I had the pleasure of seeing a band called Tinarawin live. They are from Mali in africa and seem to be the kind of music that Toubab Krewe draws inspiration and influence from (i suggest cheking them out, too). Anyways, I played this show for my buddy, and he said it was immediately his favorite music ever. I dont know if I'd go quite that far, but I definitely dig their groovy concepts.

I've yet to see these guys in concert. I first heard of them while listening to WNCW streams and they made their top 20 local list. Ordered the studio album after that and was hooked. I've been listening to this set for a week and love it. The last song is the bomb. This is some intricate yet groovy music. I've been listening to it while bombing some NC singletrack on my bike.
Quality of this recording is great.
try it, you'll like it
