lummis: i thank the gentlelady from missouri. among the topics we've been discussing tonight is the effects of obamacare, the affordable care act, on medicare. and one of the things that i believe is the most egregious is that when the $500 billion was taken out of medicare to fund obamacare, is that it puts medicare in a position where access to medicare becomes a problem. and it becomes a big problem in states like mine, the state of wyoming, a very rural place. we've got a dearth of physicians. every time a medicare patient walks into their offices, that physician is losing money. because the doctors are re-embureaused at amounts less than -- reimbursed at amounts less than the cost to provide the service. and that's happening elsewhere in the country as well, mr. speaker. we know from what the former c.b.o. director said at a hearing in july of this year, and i quote, today medicare coverage no longer guarantees access to care. seniors enrolled in the medicare program face barriers to accessing primary care physicians as well

joining me now by phone is ray reid of kcmo radio in missouri. ray, two significant developments today at least, and number one is this search. what do we know about why they are searching this well? >> this seems to be a site that investigators just kind of stumbled upon during their canvass in the neighborhood. they came upon this home that's been vacant for over two years. the home itself is collapsed, they've had to make sure it was safe and also do an air quality assessment before firefighters could rappel down. there's no specific tip that sent them to this home, it's less than a half mile, just a few blocks from the irwin family home, and they want to leave no stone unturned. megyn: so there's nothing specific in terms of a tip or a dog scent trail or anything along those lines that led them to this well? >> >> no. this is investigators trying to explore every option. the local crimestoppers has received over 1,000 tips related to this case with about 300 of those being forwarded to investigators. megyn: and, ray, these are live pictures c

ed lavandera joins us from the parents' home in missouri. where does communication between the police and the parents now stand? >> reporter: it still remains kind of a confusing situation because we've just spoken with kansas city police who say they've made several efforts to reach out to baby lisa's parents today. they have extended those invitations to talk. but they continue to say that they are -- haven't had a sitdown with them in several days. when we've spoken with family members of baby lisa, they say that they are cooperating. so exactly what's going on behind the scenes here is very difficult to parse out. having said that, listening to one of the relatives of baby lisa's mother, it sounded like they wanted to do things in a different kind of way. that the family had gotten tired of going to the police station and being interrogated there. and they wanted to try to figure out different ways of helping out the police department. that's what i've been able to gather. they say all of this has been a big miscommunication. >> i think

the baby who vanished from a home in missouri may be dead. we're learning a cadaver dog has indicated a scent of death at the home of little lisa irwin's parents. web lisa disappeared from the home more than two weeks ago and her parents say somebody must have snatched her from her crib. but the infant's mother admitted to fox news she was drunk. had at least five glasses of wine when her child disappeared and today a police affidavit revealed an f.b.i. cadaver dog was brought into the residence, the cadaver dog indicateed a positive hit for the scent of death near the foot of the mother's bed. what else do we know? >> there are several bits of information from that affidavit that really gets your attention. it says that deborah bradley told police she didn't search for baby lisa in the back of the house because she was, quote, afraid of what she might find. it also says that there was dirt in the garden that looked like it had been overturned to the police. police removed from that house some of the toys from baby lisa's room, a purple pair

in missouri and kentucky, it is a national industry. these jobs are valued very highly. when i was at the oklahoma city assembly plant when it closed in 2005, it was the largest taxpayer in the state of oklahoma, and these jobs were valued down there. people still in the heartland have a real affection for american-made products and american-made cars and trucks. on the coast, the companies have lost a lot of market share, but that, i think part of that is due to the tremendous competition for those dollars. this really is an industry that touches many lives and the fact is it is important that they maintain these large assembly plants around the country because it is where their buyers are. it is where the consumers are as well as the workers. michigan has taken, borne the brunt of the downsizing. we still have plants that are closing that will never reopen. i think that is part of the evolution of the detroit companies. it can't be that centralized. it has to be a broad-based and of course these companies are doing a tremendous amount of expansion overseas as well. gm
