franklin county is where columbus is located, and there were long lines. there were long lines due to tremendous efforts by both sides to get out the vote and a decision that was made the students at ohio state university would vote in columbus as opposed to their home precincts. what i think it's incumbent upon you to get across to your folks who view you is this -- in ohio, voting machine location is determined by [unintelligible] each one of those boards of elections has two members. two democrats and two republicans for it in 2004, the head of the franklin county board of elections was a guy named bill anthony. he was a labor leader. he was vice chairman of the franklin county party -- democratic party. he was a co-chairman of the kerry campaign and african- american. i don't think he would have allowed the voting machines to deliberately not be placed in african-american communities. but it is this notion that the secretary of state made a determination, therefore getting long lines, frustrated african- american voters, that was not the case. i have n

on saturday, september 17, 2011 what working uniform patrol in the broadway corridor of columbus and broadway, officers were summoned. did the to and ask for their assistance in obtaining a subject that appeared to be acting suspicious, and was possibly wanted for criminal act. officers approached the subject. as they did so, they noticed he was rolling a marijuana cigarette in his hand. officer tapang remove the cigarette from the man's hand. his immediate response was to flee from officers. saturday night on broadway is pure chaos at 2:00 in the morning. hundreds of people leaving the nightclubs. these officers are chasing this person down the crowded street. as the chase went on for a few yards, but the suspect reached underneath his jacket. he withdrew a tech 9 automatic pistol. he was running down broadway and took the weapon and he there to scare the officer, and pointed the pistol right at officer. officer jones, seeing the threat to the officer and everyone else nearby, fired a shot to protect an officer. almost immediately after that, officer tapang was able to catch up with

here is how the columbus dispatch explained it this weekend. four years ago, more than 60% of the voters backed john mccain. this year, both counties, the biggest two in ohio to go for the republican candidate are staying open extra hours on weekends and saturdays so their voters can cast early voters. in that same year, cuyahoga and franklin counties went for democrat barack obama by 60% or more, but election offices in those two predominantly democratic counties will be limited. it will be open to you in ohio if you're likely to be a republican voter, but not if you're likely to be a democratic voter. the ohio press is now getting all over this. the new report in the toledo blade called for a new poll tax and back door voter suppression, and john hue stead facing that kind of pressure is telling the columbus dispatch he's considering establishing standardized early voting hours across the state, the same in every county. this is after he personally intervened as secretary of state to make sure the democratic counties would have fewer hours. n
