and the important part with rubio is while he does seem to be tempering his first line now with mike allen yesterday after he got a lot of criticism for it he still believes fundamentally that you should teach creationism alongside evolution in classes. that's really where this comes from. his history when he was in florida as a state house speaker was a huge fight over evolution education in florida. he came down on the side of the creationists saying they should be able to teach that in school. a reasonable alternative to evolution. whether or not rubio thinks the earth is 4 billion years old he also believes some of the nonscientific theories should be taught. >> people should be able to teach the opposite alongside of evolution and alongside of science in public schools. he's saying in public schools. in other words -- is the same position as rick santorum, correct? >> actually, same position as rick santorum, chris christie has said this. >> bill: has he really? >> my colleague and i did a story on this after the rubio thing where we should have went through the 2016 contenders

before it was cool to be supporting allen west and that's 100% right. because mike pence understood that it's not about the empty promises of outreach to a community. it's about finding those individuals that really and truthfully do believe in constitutional conservative principles and supporting them to get them to a position where they can have a voice. and they can in turn be examples to our black community. that's what mike pence did for me in 2008. he kept encouraging me and even though we fell short on that next day he was the first person to call and say, i know what type of man you are and i know what type of fighter you are and i know you're going to do it again. and therefore i ended up being here in 2010. and i had the opportunity to be taught, to be coached, and to be mentored by a great man, a great constitutional conservative a man that will go make a difference far state. i think that one day he'll make a difference for our great nation. so as once upon a time a general said as he stood there that old soldiers never die they just fade aw
