let's talk more about ariel castro. i interviewed his daughter-in-law the other night and she was one of the more revealing interviews so far since this story broke, because she detailed all the abuse that her former mother-in-law and her former husband had endured at the hands of ariel castro, and it went way beyond the kind of, and i don't use this word in any light way, average domestic violence, if you like, that perhaps we all had been suckered into believing he had perpetrated. this was proper pretty vile abuse that was going on. >> yeah. i mean, i wrote a book once called "obsession," had to do exactly with this subject matter. there are people who are in relationships today that are being abused and controlled by husbands, they have to tell them when they leave the house, they give them a certain amount of money, better not spend beyond this money. they check the odometer on their car. but this is going way, way beyond, the extreme amount of violence exhibited on his, you know, on his wife, and what was interest

bob, what are we learning about the suspect, ariel castro? >> scott, turns out ariel castro was born in puerto rico in 1960. we're told he moved to ohio as a young child. since april, 1992, he's lived in that very same house on seymour avenue where the women were found. castro is a part-time jazz musician who lost his job as a school bus driver back in 2012. dean reynolds told us the women never left the property and it turns out that the neighbors were never invited inside the house, either. the captives, scott, were held in isolation. >> pelley: does castro have a record other than this? >> a small record, scott. he was arrested once in 1993 but a grand jury declined to indict him. in 2005 the estranged mother of his two daughters sought a court protection from castro. the woman accused castro of beating her, claiming he broke her nose and threatened to kill her and their daughters. one handwritten notation was particularly interesting to us, it read "petitioner has full custody with no visitation for respondent." meaning castro. "neverthel

castro at this point, ariel castro, the 512-year-o2-year-ol raised miranda. he has been cooperating with police. if there is a trial, that would mean the three women would have to relive the decades of torture that they were subjected to in this home. so there is some talk that the death penalty may be used as leverage, if you will. also in the past hour or two, we have learned that the dna testing, the dna testing, paternity testing that was conducted on ariel castro, they have the results. those results have been turned over to the cleveland police department. we don't know whether we'll get the results today, we be being the media, but they took the dna from castro and they compared it to other missing persons cases not just in ohio, but nationally. so we'll get the results from that. and we'll also find out whether ariel castro is the father of amanda berry's 6-year-old daughter. at this point we believe that he is. we have no reason to believe that he is not. but it's the dna test of course the paternity test that will confirm that, richard. >> craig, al

meanwhile, as you just indicated, ariel castro $8 million bond set by a judge this morning. he did not say anything in court. he held his head down. we're told that within the next 30 days that case will go before a grand jury. he did not enter a plea this morning. the two other castro brothers, onil and pedro castro, for a good chunk of yesterday and the day before a lot of folks thought they would be charged in connection with that case. it has since been explained to all of us that the castro brothers according to prosecutors had no idea what was going on inside the two-story home behind me. within the past hour, onil castro and pedro castro were released from jail. at this point we do not know where they are. we talked to a few neighbors yesterday who said that the castro brothers would not be welcomed back in this neighborhood. meanwhile, tonight, 7:00 at the church at the end of the street behind me, faith leaders, community leaders, just about every politician in the city of cleveland are going to gather there to talk about moving forward. >> what more do we know abou
