the storm is off the gulf coast, heading for the florida panhandle and louisiana. it was expected to be the biggest weather event this weekend. but, the tropical storm slowed down and is no longer expected to form into a hurricane. still, residents are on guard. but as you can tell. a different story here in the bay area with hot temperatures for the weekend. ahura the maximum sustained winds at 40 m.p.h.. again, it is only going to bring significant rain and wind to low-lying areas. bay area weather, the roof cam is showing clear and column conditions. check out your temperatures. cal--calm .. conditions and clear, with no clouds. waking up tomorrow on the mild side with temperatures in the 60s. storm watches up from louisiana to the florida panhandle. we have our indra petersons live in pensacola, florida. give us a sense of the latest, indra. >> reporter: good morning, guys. definitely feels like a typically morning in pensacola, florida, this morning. gusty conditions and a few bouts of rain here and there but we know that is quickly changing as we head into the weekend. karen is in the gulf and it's an unusually quiet season which now suddenly could be turning active. this could be actually our first hurricane to make landfall on the u.s. mainland. let's talk about those current conditions right now. you can see we are seeing about 65-mile-per-hour stead winds right now. kind of moving to the northwest at 10 miles per hour so that is definitely we are going to be monitoring here and it could strength throughout the evening hours so something we are watching and borderline tropical storm or a weak category 1 hurricane. something to keep in mind. whichever way it goes you're still going to be feeling generally the same effects. ta

it began earlier this week at the franklin correctional institution in the florida panhandle and continued 300 miles south in orlando. our robert ray is standing by live in caravel, florida where the prisoners first escaped. what do we know right now? >> reporter: yeah, morgan, indeed. it is crazy and obviously scary that something like that occurred. where we are coming from right now is on the gulf of mexico, carabel, florida. two miles up the road is the corrections center where the two murderers seemed to have walked out. they will not allow us to be there for security reasons. on september 27th, one of the men had forged documents. he walked out. no problem. on october 8th, the second convicted murderer with the same similar forged documents also walked out. no problem. we have a little bit more information to tell you, and here is some of it right now >> reporter: police say these are the most recent photos of joseph jenkins and charles walker, taken just days after authorities say the convicted murderers used forged documents to get out of prison. they posed because after they got o

inside a motel in panama city, in the florida panhandle. >> they surrounded the room. about 20 task force members and using a pa stem from one of the cars were able to instruct them that they knew where they were and they wanted them to come out. >> joseph jenkins and charles walker were less than a 2-hour drive from the franklin correctional institution where they have been serving life sentences without parole for two separate murders. their families went before cameras and urged them to surrender. >> we love you. we believe in you. we just want you to surrender yourself to someone who you trust, who willb bring you in back safely. >> the escapes were an embarrassment to the florida department of corrections. they were able to walk out of prison thanks to forged documents set to the clerk of the court. once they got out, they walked into a jail in orlando to do what's required by law to register as felonies. they had mug shots taken and they were finger printed. but no red flags went up until the mother of one of the murder victims said she heard about walker's relea

from florida panhandle into georgia, the carolinas, all along this stalled frontal boundaries. and it's moving off to the east and northeast. bulk will pass to the southeast of us. in addition, there's another weak system coming through indiana. that's going to bring clouds. maybe even by wednesday afternoon. and garrett county. 2,000, 3,000 feet up. they could see their first snowflake of the year. up there, temperatures in the 30s. here, eastern sections. the rain just south of us. you see the very quick cutoff to the clouds. there's a chance overnight, particularly south and east of us of rain. if it gets to baltimore and d.c., shouldn't be much in the way of rain. during the day tomorrow, that front continue toss move away. as that low pressure kind of zips through the area. it will dry out quickly by the afternoon. expect to see partly sunny skies again. but cooling temperatures over the next several days. north and northwest will break out some snow here in the great lakes. erie, pennsylvania will see some snow. watertown, new york. some of those areas, because the cold a

walker walked freely out of franklin correctional institution in the florida panhandle on october 8th, just ten days earlier joseph jenkins walked out of that same jail. jenkins' father figure also pleading with him to turn himself in the orange county sheriff's office is now in day five of the manhunt for the two convicted murderers who managed to forge court documents and walk freely out of jail. both were serving live sentences. authorities didn't realize the men were mistakenly released until tuesday. walker's mother says they spent the whole week after his release together. walker appeared in public places and even going before his church. mean while, jenkins's family says they traveled six hours to pick him up from jail. first stop was grandma's house. jenkins disappeared then, a no-show at his own birthday party on october 1st. orange county police say the families made no attempts to hide them. there's a $10,000 reward a piece for any information that leads to their capture. >> for the first couple of days until we got involved we found out that the release was not correct, th

panhandle. now, that is where joseph jenkins and charles walker escaped from two weeks ago or several weeks ago rather. they were arrested over the weekend after they made the trip from the orlando area to panama city beach. and that is where u.s. marshals arrested them on saturday. we're told they were waiting for someone from atlanta to pick them up. investigators aren't exactly sure who. they are trying to determine suspects by going through a ipad and phone found in the hotel. the scheme didn't come as a total surprise because law enforce. officials discussed it this past summer. still a lot of questions at this point. >> have authorities release the similarities between how this all happened. because the judge who signed off on the two false release papers for these guys was the casey anthony judge and he's come out to say they figured out his name because he was well known and people wouldn't have thought anything about it. does his name appear anyone else? >> reporter: they haven't releas

florida investigators have seized computers and printers from the florida panhandle prison where the convicted killers were held, looking for clues where the documents originated. it is clear to investigators, walker and jenkins does not act alone in pulling off the caper. >> we have pinpointed the suspects. the arrests are -- they're not predicted they're going to happen. >> so, you mentioned several older cases of forged documents. do we know how long this has been going on? >> well the examples in the piece there date back to 2009. the florida department of law enforcement said this summer, middle of the summer, when they realized how organized this process was and how, how, they wanted to get it on the radar. prosecutor as cross the state, fdle, state law enforcement, say they do not believe it is a widespread problem across the state. they have seen it in several isolated areas. they wanted to make state prosecutor as cross the state aware of it. to be vigilant about it. >> thank you, a lot more happening tonight. >> anderson, a special prosecutor will look at the alleged rape c

joseph jenkins walked out of a jail in the florida panhandle on 27th. he was serving a life sentence for murder. charles walker walked out of the same jail ten days later on october 8 and was serving life sentence for 1999 murder. authorities didn't realize their mistake until tuesday. and that's partly because both men did everything not to raise red flags. including walking back in to an orlando area jail where they were fingerprinted and photographed, registering as felons. a requirement under the law. both convicted murder gamed the system forging motions ordering the sentences to be reducedded and court documents granting their request. the documents were filed by an unknown accomplice. orange county police are offering $10,000 reward apiece for any information that leads to their capture. >> the most recent information we have is that the individuals are likely here in the immediate community. >> as the manhunt continues in the fifth day, the florida department of corrections is requiring pases to have all orders that call -- prison esto have all

. >> a tropical storm threatening parts of louisiana and the florida panhandle. we're seeing some crazy weather in colorado, a lot of snow. there's also a stretch of tornadoes and all of that is actually getting some of those furloughed people back to work. chad meyers, tell us about that and what we're expecting down here. >> here is karen. there is wind in the atmosphere that pushes the storm away from the center. it looks like, there's the center. that's not the center is not the big blob. the center is over here. because the wind is blowing the storms across, it's not allowing the storm to get around and make a big circle. so it's not gaining any strength. we do expect it to turn to the north and probably graze the florida gulf coast. that is the center of the line. there's still the left and right where we can be all the way from new orleans all the way overjacksonville. if the storm stays in the water longer, this is very warm water, the storm will get stronger if it goes there. storm won't be as strong as if it goes straight into land. it could be on grand
